Nik H. 3 Report post Posted January 28, 2008 Great Shots...... especially of the DC3. And thanks for the shot of the Duke with the Raisbeck conversion, indeed a rare bird. Then there's the Cessna Cutlass RG, a retractable version of the C172, another rare machine. No Tomahawk in Jandakot?

kianhong 0 Report post Posted January 29, 2008 Iggy : Yes from the Observation Park near the Tower. Oh well ... 300mm can fill more than 2/3 of the frame. I can get some really decent pixies with the help of crop. hehehe... Yes ... there's the yellow Tiger Moth and the Boeing Stearman PT-17. They hide in the hangar most of the time, but I'm sure I gonna get them soon enough. Capt Nik : Thanks Captain Nik... There are a few Piper PA-38 Tomahawk here in JDK. I think you are referring to the P-40 Tomahawk fighter. If I am lucky enough, I'll see one and put the pic up for you. Norman : Sorry ... Dinky Di flew away long before I reach the Obs Park. Continue with the Australia Day Special. Another formation take off from Royal Aero Club WA. Two C152. Banner Towing ... Even though it's a holiday, we still have to fly. Sun already set. And I was pushing the limit of my 30Delta. Piper Simenole. Mooney M20M with anti-col. Finally, Mooneys' formation take off towards the twilight. Thanks for viewing. Got to try someday More please... just love JDK alot The mentioned aircraft is not a Piper Cub, at least not according CASA civil aircraft register. It's a model A-1 made by WHITE International. It has very minor different at the horizontal stabilizer and the engine air vent. I was tricked too initially! QUOTE(Kelvin B @ Jan 29 2008, 11:38 PM) Kianhong, Just saw your photos... they are great. thanks for sharing..! Especially love the night shots. Reminds me of my time in South Australia, the sky and stars were like nowhere else I had seen.... Thanks Kelvin. There's something great happening in the morning sky. I'll put them up soon. Ever wonder how banner towing aircraft works? Short field take off. Tow line with a hook at the end released. Stabilized. Aim for the target setup by the ground crew. Low approach. Here I come! Hooked! Climb! Pull up! I am amazed that it didn't stall at such attitude. Thanks for viewing.
Ignatius 4 Report post Posted January 31, 2008 Great coverage on the A1 yellow wannabe piper cub, I've seen them pull that stunt with the white piper, but i never saw them trying to hook something up from the ground crew?? Or was i too hooked to my viewfinder until i didnt realise what actually took place?? hehe... Waiting for more from you, esp in-flight pix if you ever had the chance bro... good on you mate... keep it up

kianhong 0 Report post Posted February 16, 2008 (edited) Some pix that I took from late afternoon of 13 Feb. TigerMoth! Mooney - with its distinct right angle tail fin. One of the best selling helicopter on the market now - Robinson R22. Ah Moi was piloting this rotor. Cool! If you run out of gas ... what do u do? Go to gas station lah, just like our brudder here did. Very nice Diamond Eclipse btw. Runway 03 in use at YPPH. So we have some heavies flying near Jandakot. ATIS - Caution wake turbulance above 1000'!. This EK was probably at 4000' and more than 3NM outside of Jandakot control zone. Heavy cropped. Last but not least, would like to share a joke regarding aircraft from this 'stable'. My colleague was flying in the circuit and heard this : VH-ZTL : "Zoolu Tengo Limaa, Downstream, touch & go" Jandakot Tower : " (paused for a while) ... ... Zulu Tango Lima, follow the canoe in front. " VH-ZTL : "Zoolu Tengo Limaa."   Thanks for viewing! Imran K. 0 Report post Posted February 16, 2008 I don't get the part where "follow the canoe in front" downstream = down a river.. usually you find canoe's and other marine transport objects on bodies of water such as rivers, streams, lakes... thus...as a joke...the ATC replied to the use of 'downstream' instead of 'downwind' by jokingly telling the pilot to follow the canoe. kianhong 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2008 (edited) Thanks Tsentsan and all for stopping by! Some update from Jandakot. Royal Flying Doctor Service (Western Operations) working hard! They operate a mix of 6 Beechcraft B200 Super King Air and 5 Pilatus PC-12. My target now is to get all of them in good light! Time to Rock 'N' Roll. Piper Cherokee in KLM color! ... I heard sky was blue south of the causeway. As blue as this? This QF A330 was probably just 5000' directly above Jandakot. Thanks for viewing. kianhong 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 (edited) Today is special day at SFC. A few Learjet Captains from Maroochydore is here for a retreat. :yahoo: They flew one of the Learjet 45 here!! :yahoo: Smoky Landing! With a bright blinker, even at 1/640sec shutter speed. Lucky! After racing driving slowly back to the hangar, photo shoot of this sexy aircraft continued. Even though he had to be a temporary baggage handler, our bro here was so happy with the sexy 'babe' behind - he didn't seem to mind at all. Got time to pose some more. As the Learjet will be here until 28th FEB, hope to shoot her in different light conditions. Thanks for viewing. Edited February 25, 2008 by kianhong
