Qatar Airways Increasing Capacity to KUL

Breaking news guys!

 

QR to operate a new tag-on KUL-HKT vv (Phuket) on one of its daily flight into KUL beginning 11 October 2010. This is a much welcomed news after QR dropped their KUL-DPS vv tag-on on 1 January 2010 and moved it to SIN instead.

most probably ETD to HKT is around 3++pm and ETA from HKT before 2000...there's a 5hrs gap between QR 624/QR625...

Starting 11th October QR 622/623 & QR 624/625 which cover 7 of the 11 weekly DOH - KUL vv flights.

Aircraft will be A330-300. 6 out of 7 KUL - HKT vv flights will have 5th freedom right.

Why did QR change from KUL to SIN for DPS?

 

DOH-KUL v.v. load factor before tagging with DPS was not really justify. (Operating aircraft was AB6.) Therefore. HQ decided to launch DPS (year 2007)with tagging at DOH-KUL v.v. route. Over the years, KULQR managed to built up the load factor, same as DPS. However, KULQR was having difficulties to get even a single seat, as DPS route has been supported strongly by QR network, eventhough route has been upgraded to A333/332 operation.

Due to strong built up from KULQR; at same time, SINQR was facing low load factor and JKTQR has strong load factor too, HQ decided to:

1. De-link KUL-DPS v.v. from DOH-KUL v.v., increase frequency from 7 to 11 weekly and upgrade route to B77W

2. Link SIN-DPS v.v. into DOH-SIN v.v. increase frequency to daily and upgrade aircraft to B77W

3. De-link SIN-CGK v.v. from DOH-SIN v.v so that JKT received stand alone route DOH-CGK v.v., 7flights weekly. Operating metal A332

All above changes was from 01Jan10.

My DOH-KUL flight was by 333 and not by 77W. KUL-DOH was published as a 77W, but now has reverted to 333 aswell :(

 

(should have booked SIN instead, for 77W flights)...

Same goes to me, on last Feb, travelled to DOH, was published as 77W, but downgraded last minute to 333, BOTH WAYS!

As per W09 timetable issue8, DOH-KUL v.v. should be oparated by 77W effective 01Jan10; however few changes (or downgraded to be exact) made due to operational, commercial or whatever reason given by HQ, so that:

1. Jan10 - Mix of 332/333/77W operation

2. Feb10 - Mix of 332/333/77L/77W operation

3. Mar10 - Fully operated by 77W, except 05Mar(333) & 29-31Mar(332&333) operation

4. Apr10 - Mix of 332/333/77L/77W operation

5. May10 - Mix of 332/333/77L/77W operation

6. Jun10 (as of 14Jun) - Fully operated by 332/333

I flew QR in Feb 2010 to LHR and the KUL-DOH-KUL sectors were both on B77W. It is an awesome aircraft and the QR fleet is simply magnificent !! Hope they use the B77W to KUL, although I can't say how the A330's are like. :yahoo:

QR is planning more tag-on flights from KUL.

 

QR's plans call for a thrice weekly SUB service via KUL. At the same time KUL service would increase from the current 11 weekly to twice daily. As for SUB, the market for a service to the Middle East is likely there, but the yields are probably not much to talk about. If anyone could do it, it is likely an airline like QR though.

KUL-SUB-KUL 3 weekly A333.

- Qatar Airways is upgrading its 2 daily flights into KUL and its tag-on to HKT from A332/A333 aircraft to B772LR and B77W aircraft beginning 25 March 2012. http://airlineroute.net/2011/10/20/qr-kulhkt-s12/

 

I have to say that 77L/77W operation into KUL has not been finalized, eventhough GDS is updated with these type of acft.

 

However, we will increase frequencies into KUL to triple daily (currently double daily) from 01 Aug 2012. Tagging sector KUL-HKT-KUL remains unchanged (daily with split timing)

Wow, 3 daily flights from QR soon! Thanks for the insider info. I hope this will lead to EK adding one more flight (to become 4 daily) to KUL to maintain its position as the no. 1 Middle East airline in KUL.

Triple daily will be commenced from Aug12 (as mentioned before)

Equipment would be A332/A333.

 

QR623 will be operated on day 1,2,3,5,7 (additional 2 flights - day 2 & 7) 0330 - 0600

QR621 remains unchanged (daily) 1020 - 1250

QR625 will be operated on day 1,3,4,5,6 (additional 1 flight - day 4) 2110 - 2340

 

Flight to HKT remains unchanged - Daily flight with 2 timing.

Dear All,

 

Qatar Airways has officially revealed on the GDS system that it shall be increasing services to Kuala Lumpur from the on set of the IATA S12 season i.e. 25MAR 2012.

 

Currently, QR operates 13 weekly flights to KUL using a 2 class configured A333 seating 305 pax. However from 26MAR 2012 onwards, frequencies will be increased to 17 times per week with all flights operated with an A 332 (2 class 259 seater).

 

Triple daily flights will be operated on MON/THU/SAT only and is valid for the entire duration of the IATA S12 period.

Hot off from the Arabian Travel Market, Middle East’s premier travel trade event taking place in Dubai this week, Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker unveiled an aggressive expansion plans covering a wide network of markets across the carrier’s global network.

 

Al Baker: “This year alone will see Qatar Airways take delivery of one new aircraft every 15 days, so there are plenty of opportunities to look at inducting them into service on both new and well established routes.”

One rather 'interesting' thing that AAB mentioned during the ATM in Dubai was that Qatar Airways has been approached to run airports in Europe based on the current Doha success. i find this hard to believe though. - source from tweet of the Senior Group Editor of Aviation business magazine / logistics Middle east.

 

787 due to arrive this summer but somehow rather dissapointed with their Y class offerings, 3-3-3 at 16.9' compared to their 77W which is at 18.9'. Perhaps QR is following EK's footstep to cramp the Y class.

Very aggressive for an airline that only flies single aisle a320 from doha to some parts of europe. I wonder if many malaysians will enjoy 6 hours flight on a320 to Geneva!
