Singapore Changi Airport Spotting

Recommended Posts

Thanks jani and Andi . . . very helpful information. Although branded a domestic tourism campaign, I realise that Brunei and Singapore are included as "domestic" . . . it makes sense as these markets have many shared preferences and cultural background as Malaysia's domestic population.

I hope this means this beauty flies to Singapore more often and allows us a good opportunity to get it in the good light that such a great effort deserves.

The new AK livery is very nice, gives feeling of cleanliness ..Maybe AK should consider it as the main livery..

9M-AFQ was painted in the hangar of Singapore Aerospace at Seletar Airport . . . a pity none of us knew of it emerging in new livery. However, here's another view of it landing on 20R in absolutely next to no light.

Can anyone explain the significance of this livery? Went to the Tourism Malaysia and AirAsia websites but could not find anything resembling Zoom Malaysia.

she was supposed to be painted into that livery about 4-5 months ago already, but nothing materialised. painted during a HMV at ST Aero.

They will say high fuel consumption :p :rofl:

If done right this could be another form of revenue - flying billboard.

Seen her going to Hong Kong, Miami and elsewhere . . . finally she made it to SIN too. BA's B744 G-CIVP is one of two BA B744s sporting the "member of oneworld" livery. Thank goodness she dragged the sun with her . . . Changi Airport was lashed by two storms prior to its arrival.

Guys, thanks for the 'One World' BA :clapping: Any other airlines with the same title coming to SIN?

Qantas B744 VH-OEB is now also carrying the same "member of oneworld" livery and we might see her in SIN.

Cathay Pacific Airways will have a number of planes painted similarly and once again, we hope these will appear here. JAL's B767-300ER JA604J was given this livery in SIN but sadly none of us photographed it - but thankfully Mwingers have done it in KUL.

That's about it for SIN - just a pathetic four oneworld airlines operating here. BKK fares better and has Finnair, CX, BA, QF and Royal Jordanian operating there - though I cannot imagine how this livery could be applied on the RJ livery.

Air Niugini is perhaps the hardest to photograph scheduled passenger airline at Changi. This is because it only operates twice a week on Monday and Thursday, and arrives at 1940hrs in the evening and departs back to Port Moresby an hour later.

Seen here is P2-ANA B767-300ER which arrived yesterday afternoon as PX392D after a rare 19hr delay. A pity the sun was quite shy when she arrived.

Cute Fokker 28 Friendship from KL-Subang. It was also my first time photographing her :)

The silver bullet livery would be sorely missed as CX will repaint them into the standard livery in the near future. B-HKH was formerly 9V-SMH.

The dark storm clouds and bright afternoon sun produced some very interesting shots with high contrast.

Cheers!

The TUDM Fokker 28 (incidentally it is a "Fellowship") is really cute. Used to be such a common visitor to Singapore but now turns heads whenever it comes. Nice catch with the Air Niugini B767. Why is it the "vampire airlines" are seldom delayed in a major fashion . . . and those common ones that arrive in bright daylight often suffer delays.

Came out spotting only in the afternoon and caught nothing special - but nevertheless was happy to get this homecoming Queen (ex-9V-SMH) appearing as a B747-412(BCF) of Cathay Pacific Cargo. The silver bullet scheme did not quite have the shine of others in the CX Cargo fleet and it also had a rather bluish nose and engine nacelles.

The storm rolled in from Johor and even with a strong and sustained tailwind, our controllers happily allowed a steady stream of arrivals without reversing the landing direction. As a result, we had a good crop of dramatic dark skies shots of common subjects.
