Our Sunday morning was a wash-out ... and with that went our hopes of catching Thai's B777-300ER.

 

But in the afternoon, we were compensated when the sun came out brilliantly ... and Lufthansa sent its B747-430 D-ABVH with 50 Years of Innovation Partnership with Boeing livery.

Some shots to share from today

 

Air Asia 9M-AFM 'Hats off to Dato Pahamin' operated AK707 from KUL this afternoon. It was a mad rush getting from 20 to 02 as the runway direction switched minutes before her estimated arrival time.

 

Thai Airways TG413 HS-TEF was delayed from her original scheduled arrival time of 2+pm to 4.15pm instead, allowing us to photograph her in much better lighting conditions.

 

Cathay Pacific B-HUP Silver Bullet B744F. The silver bullet is amazingly clean for once!

 

Asialink F-27 Friendship PK-KRL inbound from Batam in the evening.

 

Rounding off a fruiful afternoon of spotting is one of Air Asia's newest A320, 9M-AHX.

Sorry I have been extremely out-of-date in uploading recent sightings from Singapore Changi Airport. Thankfully, Hoe Jyh has been somewhat more timely in sharing his shots ... here's my contribution.

 

Air Macau is running a series of eight charter round trip flights between Macau and Singapore during the June school holiday. Hope the casinos there are not the main attractions for these Singaporean families with kids.

 

There has been a spate of B727 freighter movements of late with Neptune Air, Transmile and Tri-MG providing the action. Here's a more regular Tri-MG example that never fails to thrill me whenever it arrives.

 

Another freighter that has made quite a few trips between Colombo and Singapore is Air Armenia's (ARR) AN-12 in an albino livery. Wish they had at least a splash of colours somewhere or at least the airline's title.

 

Quite a few Air France B777-300ER have now been re-painted ... and so such sightings are no longer too exciting. But in great light, Air France's livery is quite smart.

 

Up to almost a week ago, British Airways still had a pair of B777-200ERs carrying "KEEPING THE FLAG FLYING" slogan to signal the airline's defiant mood regarding the cabin crew strike. By now, the slogan has been removed from the aircraft. Wonder if it will be re-applied if the cabin crew votes to strike again.

 

This little fella seems extremely busy providing charters and medivac services out of Singapore in recent months.

 

Fedex sends many of her MD-11s to Singapore for servicing at SASCO in Changi Airport. As such, air test are a common sight and this is one of them. There seems to be a bump of some sort (like a pimple) on the nose-cone on N606FE and N607FE. Does anyone know what this is?

 

Some senior government officials from Kazakhstan was probably in town.

 

Jetstar joins AirAsia in providing us with eye-candies from time to time and I was happy to have caught both sides of its A320 advertising for Quicksilver.

 

Although not a first-time visitor, an AN-124 is always a sight to behold. This Antonov Airlines AN-124-100 arrived from Darwin and after two days, it was ferried to Johor Bahru.

 

And finally, another view of one of the most colourful regular visitor - the F-27 of Asialink after a very brief flight from Batam.

Yesterday (17jun), an all-yellow A332 was parked next to EK-12112: was this sent to SIN for a paint-job ? you have a registration for this one ?

Hi Pieter,

 

the "green" or "yellow" Airbus A330-200 was EC-336 carrying a primer coat of paint. It is destined for the Royal Australian Air Force tanker conversion in Australia and this is the third one to have made the trip.

 

The Fokker F-27 of Asialink (either PK-KRK or PK-KRL) do not replace the AN-32. The AN-32 (operating the flight code of GRX) still operates to places such as Phnom Penh, Labuan, Balikpapan, Brunei etc. There are indeed times when you actually see both operating into Changi on the same day.

FedEx MD-10-10F N68049 arriving back at Changi after an Air Test. Previously, this model was rarely seen in this part of the world as it often plies domestic and regional routes in the US. MD-10 aircraft are unique to FedEx as their DC-10 have a MD11 cockpit to eliminate the need for a Flight Engineer and enable common crew rating for both their DC-10 and MD-11 aircraft.

 

A second FedEx MD-10-10F N375FE coming as FX9085 from VCV via ANC and NRT. The special model designation 'MD10' is also painted on the nose of the aircraft.

It is really nice to see the "DC-10" again ... in the form of an MD-10. Compared to the MD-11, it is more compact (perhaps just like the A310-300) and I just love that very dated rounded tail-cone.

 

Now if only Biman will send her DC-10-30s back to SIN again - better still, have them repainted in their beautiful new colours. Nice shots of the MD-10s. Lets hope it flies around next Saturday when our Mwingers are in town to celebrate Mwings' 5th Anniversary.

This being the weekend before the official opening of the Marina Bay Sands resort in Singapore, it was not surprising that a slew of private jets from Las Vegas Sands made a beeline for Singapore.

 

First in the day was the very familiar N788LS which arrived at 1209 hours from Bangkok.

 

The highlight for the day was the much anticipated B747SP-21 registered VQ-BMS which arrived at 1341 hours from Hong Kong. Our determination to capture this was so great that a stubborn cloud that hovered above us for a long while began shifting away just as this cutie approached. Our cloud-moving feat for this Hong Kong arrival was certainly not something to sneeze at.

 

Another Las Vegas Sands private jet in the form of N383LS (a Gulfstream) was scheduled to arrive from Macau at 1430hrs but it seems to have been delayed. Over the next two days, we hope to see more biz-jets from Las Vegas Sands arrive for the big event on Wednesday.

Nice! This is my take of the cute B747SP from a slightly further location from the flightpath.

 

 

Some history about her from 747SP.com: She started off her career as N540PA with Pan Am on 1/5/1979 as Clipper White Falcon. Following Pan Am's demise, she was absorbed into United's fleet as N149UA, and was leased to Tajik Air for a short period of time in 1993. She was then acquired by the Brunei Government in 1995 where she took on the registration of V8-JBB and later V8-AC1, and undergone a conversion to a full glass cockpit. Following which, her next royal posting was to Bahrain in 1999 where she was re-registered as A9C-HMH until she was finally sold to Las Vegas Sands in mid 2008.

Yet another day nearer to the official opening of the Marina Bay Sands and as expected, more aircraft from the Las Vegas Sands' (LVS) fleet have arrived today.

 

First to arrive early in the morning at 0749hrs was the second Boeing 747SP VP-BLK. It came in from Tel Aviv.

 

It was followed minutes later by Boeing 767 N804MS which flew nonstop from Honolulu.

 

Third to arrive today was the Gulfstream N383LS. Soon after arriving from Macau, it went off to Jakarta and returned with a load of high rollers to participate in the official opening event.

 

So in all, there are now the following aircraft from LVS in Changi : B747SPs - VP-BLK & VQ-BMS, B767 - N804MS, B737 - N788LS, Gulfstream - N383LS. We are now wondering if any more of LVS's remaining fleet - especially L-1011 N388LS - will also be turning up in the next 24 hours.

 

Besides being an LVS Day, it was also an alliance day of sorts. Besides Singapore Airlines' B772 9V-SRE in Star Alliance livery, we also saw the following to Changi today :

 

All Nippon Airways B767-381ER JA614A in Star Alliance livery

Thai Airways International A330-300 HS-TEL in Star Alliance livery

KLM B777-306ER PH-BVD in Skyteam livery

 

and finally, Cathay Pacific Airways A340-300 B-HXG in oneworld livery.

 

Today also marked the start of Air India's B777-300ER operation to Singapore from Mumbai (AI442/Ai443). Its arrival was delayed from 0755hrs to 1102hrs - hopefully this would not happen too often. The honour of operating the first flight went to VT-ALN.

Cornelis : Not only have they returned the engines to the Sands B767, it seems like it also had a second "mosquito bite" in the form of a bump just behind the cockpit. I hope these Sands aircraft stay long enough and depart on Saturday when the Mwingers are in town. And of course I hope that they use 20R for departure and could then be photographed from the Crowne Plaza Hotel. Stay positive on this one and I shall endeavour to update this thread on their movements. Pray that there is nothing to update by Friday night!
