KC Sim 2 Report post Posted March 27, 2009 Something that I have been wishing to happen has finally happened . . . a Shanghai Airlines Cargo MD-11F in Singapore. It arrived early this morning just as the sun peeped over the horizon and gave it just a tender blush of light. On its departure, the light was better but it climbed like a rocket and was out of range in no time. But I was desperate enough to attempt it and was happy with it for now. KC Sim 2 Report post Posted April 5, 2009 Some recent movements: Last Tuesday's Air Seychelles flight was delayed till the late afternoon . . . Emirates' Brisbane-Singapore flight now arrives every morning . . . nice change from the past when this was a vampire flight. Asiana Cargo's B747 freighter flights seems to be dropping in at random timings . . . thank goodness for that. Jett8 Airlines Cargo seems to have resumed flying to Amsterdam, Shanghai and Hong Kong - this one was caught returning from AMS on Sunday morning. Another Jumbo this morning - in the colours of Air Pacific (now minus the decals of the islands) returning from an air test. Thai's A340-600 squeezed in just before midday . . . Air China's last aircraft with the special Beijing 2008 livery - a B737-800 seems to like SIN and comes quite often. And Qantas' A380 is a thrice-weekly visitor - wonder when it goes daily. I am still trying to get decent shots of Tiger's little cubs . . . 9V-TRA continues t elude me but 9V-TRB's desirable in better light. KC Sim

KC Sim 2 Report post Posted April 9, 2009 Two specials at Changi Airport today . . . Singapore Airlines' B747-412 9V-SPM is stripped of her tail logo and titles as she departs for her retirement (CAAS reflected VCN as her destination - anyone know where this is?). Kind of sad to see the small B744 fleet of SIA dwindle further . . . each departure means we are closer to seeing the last of the passenger B744 on Singapore's register. Gulfair's fleet of A320s, A330-200s and A340-300s are currently being serviced by SIA Engineering Company . . . as inevitable as it was that A9C-KB would finally arrive, it was not easy catching it. Missed its arrival as it landed on the "wrong runway" - Murphy's Law or our typical CAAS controllers at work. And its air test kept being postponed from last week, through the weekend till today - just when the teletext service went down. Nevertheless, finally got her but ended up with a 50-minute brisk walk all the way back to the cargo complex - not a single taxi came by the coastal road!!! And as if it was not bad enough, this long walk began at 1246hrs with the sun right overhead!! KC Sim

KC Sim Got this from Acars: Flight id: SQ0744 [sIN-VCV] [singapore Airlines] So I guess VCV is Victorville in USA... so this machine is getting stored and waiting for a new future I guess. Simon 3 Report post Posted April 10, 2009 KC, are the SQ 747s to be replaced with A380s?
KC Sim 2 Report post Posted April 11, 2009 A daily B747-400 flight from SIN to LHR was recently replaced by the B777-300ER and this freed up a pair of B744s (possibly 9V-SPM was one of those freed up) and quickly made a dash for Victorville. This morning, we spotted a B777-200 (9V-SQB) wearing similar basic SIA livery (minus tail logo and fuselage titles) . . . looks like the de-commissioning of B777s has begun too. Now looking out for 9V-SQB to make a similar TransPacific crossing to the desert and hope to catch her on departure. 9V-STE was delivered a couple of days ago - somewhat earlier than we expected. Mohd Azizul Ramli 2 Report post Posted April 12, 2009 Is 9V-STE will be wearing the Star Alliance livery, just like all the other 9V-**E series aircrafts in the entire fleet?

Hon Kit 3 Report post Posted April 12, 2009 Hey guys, Im heading SIN in few days time. May i know where is the best place to spot from the terminal?
fablee 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2009 (edited) T1 Viewing Mall is the place for spotting provided its still open . Before you check out, T3 transit area is another. If all you want is to view plane outlines (you know, like a bad case of noise reduction on a compact), T2 and T3 Viewing malls would do too. Happy Spotting. Hoe Jyh 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2009 Something RED came to town today British Airways OneWorld G-CIVC as BA11 with red nose to commemorate Red Nose Day. The Red Nose Day sticker near the nose is only applied on the port side of the aircraft.
