hmmmm this is not a good advertisement for the Mad Dog! But stuff like this happens from time to time... oh well, good to hear no one was seriously injured! :) I believe that this procedure is even practiced in the Sim?? any of our pilots here can share a little info, perhaps? :good:

"The landing was smoother than some others I've had.."

:good:

That wasn't what the pax said when that Ansett B743 suffered a similar incident in Sydney many years back! Ansett really copped it from the public for that one, and sadly, the airline collapsed in 2001 following a relaunch and continuing problems on their fiscal and operational sides.

IIRC it's the first international flight that suffered from nose gear collapse. The media were all at the airport waiting to welcome the flight.

No comment about Ansett NZ. I didn't like the BAe-146 and Ansett brand name, image, tag and etc just looks awful.

VH-INJ was ex-N118KD (suppose to be 9V-SKD but later re-registered to US registration for some reason). Took N118KD from SIN-AKL in 1990, she was a stunner back then.

Normally the procedure requires us to use alternate landing gear extension. Otherwise a 2G turn can be made if alternate extension fails. Sim is crazy, the instructor can give you virtually anything! one engine inoperative and another one on fire. double engine flameout, or landing gear collapsed after landing, explosion during cruise phase etc....if they runout of idea to play with the instructor's panel, they'll act as a stewardess or disruptive passenger and start giving you all the problems in the world with no solution...heheh... :D all of this just to distract you from the main objetive...to fly the aircraft...
