What aircraft would you buy?

Recommended Posts

When you guys made the selection, do you mean you want to fly the aircraft, or to be flown?

I see a lot of old-school 3-crew aircraft here. Not easy to get flight engineers nowadays....

Khaled, let's have a mock dogfight between your Spitfire and my Mustang. (In the early 90s the late Colin Pays of Scone, NSW have both, plus a few more!)

First Choice MD11. And L1011 TriStar, allthough as of lack of spareparts it might end up sitting on the tarmac.

Then I'll get me a Twin Otter for some djungle flying.

If MD11 and L1011 not available, get me a 777. So many beautiful hours spent in there.

I would get pilot licence and typerating for my aircraft and would fly them occasionally for fun. If I need to get to appointments, I'd rely on professional flight crews though.

Hehe, yes, that would be fun!

With some people opt for DC10, 747 classic, 727

I think fuel saving is not an issue when you're very rich!hehe...

Anyway, this is hobby for the rich.

I think if I can afford an aircraft, it'll probably be leased to flying club so that they take care of the parking and maintenance fee.

The experimental aircraft I was flying only cost something like 200K. Even old Cessna also I believe we can get around that price.

Don't expect tip top cockpit though. You'll probably equipped with standby compass as you compass, no AI or HSI.

First choice: One of the retired Grumman F-14D Tomcats stored at Davis Monthan AFB; disarmed, of course.

Second choice: F-86 Sabre

Technically, you will have to

(1) buy up the USAF and

(2) invite, employ or force the President of US (current) onboard your aircraft

Oh, not necessarily a 747

That is how I understand it to be - please enlighten if wrong :)

Yes i believe you are correct.

Any fixed wing aircraft that the President happens to be on board is called Air Force One (it could even be a C-130).

Marine One is a rotary winged counterpart.

Air Force One being President on any of the Air Force Aircraft i think :D

Oh yea, he need not to invite or employ the president, he can instead go and contest..... :D
