The plane flew KUL-AUH-JFK (onwards to SWF) after that.

Why the AUH stopover? I thought A359 can do 13-14 hour non-stop or perhaps could even reach New York non-stop from KUL, assuming the PM and his entourage numbered dozens.

Direct JFK would need nearly 16hours with operating endurance of nearly 18hours with at least 1hour 30min of potential holding and diverting alternate included. Not sure if MH 350s are configured to do nonstop like that. For the flight that was tested in KK overhead it had 50++ pob onboard including gov staffs. Also Aircraft left JFK at a secondary airport after the PM and his entourage exit probably due to JFK's high overnight charges.

This is probably a rare occasion that MH widebody was used for long haul trip for the PM as NAA ACJ319 is in use by the Agong for QE's funeral while NAB ACJ320 is under maintenance. RMAF Bombardier BD700 and Dassault falcon only has endurance for 8-9hours, 2-3 hours less than the ACJs.

Meanwhile in Asean Philipinnes Marcos Jr chartered PAL's A350 while Jokowi is skipping the UN meeting physically after visiting US on Garuda's B77W 4 months ago.

Manila FIR is down. Anyone in BKI be on the lookout for
PR 222
PR 212
PR 210

In the next 30-45min

Potential Diversions will be BWN or BKI.

Edit: They've been given special clearance into Manila FIR. So unlikely to divert.

Wow, that Cebu Pacific A320 RP-C4106 must have been in some serious trouble when diverted, for it to have stay stranded for 3 days already

Some pictures for the proving flight. It seems we may see them plying into KK and Kuching for Kaamatan and Gawai brief period before flying them internationally by late June.

No wonder Sarawak is so envious of Sabah - so many foreign airlines are flying to BKI but not KCH.

KCH doesn't have what BKI can offer.

Well the state government does not seem to think so - they blame the lack of airlines offering flights. Seriously, if they want to have more airlines coming in, they need more attractions. Instead of wasting money on acquiring MASWings, they should improve their tourist infrastructure. An example would be building better road and rail links to the Mulu caves and improving their wildlife conservation centres.

Can the thread title be changed to something like "BKI Spotting Thread"?...seems like 2021 left us far already.
