Beijing Daxing Airport: China's huge new 'starfish' airport opens its doors

The Zaha Hadid designed airport just opened its door today. First flight was a China Southern A380-800 to Guangzhou.

 

Beijing's Capital Airport is already the second busiest in the world. The Daxing airport - said to be the world's largest terminal in a single building - is expected to receive a large amount of the 170m passengers the city expects to welcome by 2025.

MH will be flying to Daxing 10/w, replacing flights to PEK. 3 daytime flights and the rest are midnight departures. Flight numbers are being changed as well

Are there really no 1-2 hours later slots left at PKX for MH365? That's quite an ungodly hour arrival into KUL (and also 55 mins turnaround seems tight for A333).

1:05 turnaround for a 333 isn’t unheard of. Off the top of my head: KA’s turnaround at KUL is as little as 1hr.

MH’s other 4am arrivals seem to be caused by curfews (MH71/140 from NRT/SYD), so I’m guessing they don’t voluntarily schedule such an early arrival :p

i remember MH able to turn around a 747 in LHR in 90 minutes. I mean if my memory serves me right.

The good news is that NRT will reduce their curfew hours to 00:30 and 05:00 later this month. MH71 will now depart NRT at 22:30 and a much better KUL arrival at 05:25.

MH 140 (along with MH 866 from DPS and MH848 from Solo) are those with ungodly hours arrivals. 

Btw, I am not sure if PKX has curfew (or maybe temporary curfew).

Short turnaround and arriving at ungodly hours, looks like bean counter's opinion supersede commercial requirement.

Or maybe MH just couldn’t get a better slot. Why would the bean counters want to rush the A330 back to KUL by 4am? To prepare for a pre-dawn departure to an imaginary high-yield destination?
