Once AK move to T2, Raya and other GA may have to move to T1 instead.

Funny TF said moving to T1 will slow AK's growth but here we are - T1 is already too small... So, did TF bullshit or did AK do an exceptional job to avoid growth slowdown?

T1 terminal is huge, but not enough aircraft bay.

Yes, that is why I said renovations will be needed if they want to bring T2 back into service - maybe the upper floor also needs to be used for pax movements.

As for the traffic and parking arrangements, only a new purpose built airport can solve it!

As far as I can remember, upper floor of T2 had accommodated only KFC, another kopitiam and a souvenir vendor - not sure it's wise nor safe to channel pax up there as matter of course :)

Not unless you mean raising the roof, building outwards and sideways, fitting in aerobridges (oh you gotta have them, all canggih airports have them nowadays) and a couple or more flyovers in vicinity to 'ease traffic congestion' ...... another big ticket item awaiting big budget allocation, mouthwatering prospect :)

You have to be careful about putting ideas in TF's head. He has been blaming MAHB for bad airport design lately! 😁😁

BTW, is it possible to park aircraft at remote bays and then bus the pax to/from the terminal?

At night most of the bay in t1 is fully utilised. There's urgent need to add more remote bays.

basically BKI is lack of International gates at night when 10pm-12am. other than this hour i barely can notice all gate2-6 can fully utilized.

remote bay is quite an instant rescue plan.

Some airports like HKG and AKL really give AVGeeks a great time ogling aircraft from close range!

I wouldn't mind a bus ride from plane to terminal at BKI!

as a matter of fact, taking air-buses (airside transport busses) is a pretty new thing in malaysia. as our airports rarely up to the level that overcapacity by the planes (sad but true).

anyway, i'm really good with the air-buses as well, given the weather is good though. haha

The schedule for North Asia arrivals/departure should be moved to around noon time. Since most of the passengers are leisure based, afternoon timing suits well for hotel check in/out. Between 12pm till 4pm, BKI traffic is not too heavy. This would free up more slots at night.

Of late there have been a steep rise of Middle Eastern tourist to Sabah. Perhaps a sign of direct flights soon from that region.

If that is the case, Korean airlines may not go to BKI. They are probably doing red eye flights to increase their aircraft utilisation. It may be to costly for them to operate prime time flights.

Not too sure how it works but we have seen them adjusting to noon time flights.  Jin Air is inbound as of now.  ETA 1204.
