Not as bad as JetStar HKG though. At least I5 got their initial flights opened up! Anyway, it is a good thing to do things slow and steady. Too fast and the market cannot absorb the extra capacity!

AirAsia Announces Fly-thru Service From Hyderabad

By Saraswathi Muniappan

NEW DELHI, Dec 4 (Bernama) -- AirAsia Bhd has announced the availability of its 'Fly-Thru' service for international flights from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad to Kuala Lumpur, making multiple-city flights a seamless travel experience for its guests.

The Fly-Thru service sidesteps the hassle of numerous check-ins, transit visas or multiple baggage transfers, enabling guests to check-in from their original destination and transfer to their final destination via klia2 in Kuala Lumpur without having to undergo another check-in procedure, it said in a statement here today.

Guests will only have to collect their baggage at the final destination, as it will be automatically transferred to the onward connecting flight.

"The service reflects our continuous effort to innovate and enhance our service offerings, presenting the best flying experience and enhanced reach to various cities in the region and beyond from Hyderabad," AirAsia Group Chief Commercial Officer Siegtraund Teh said.

With Hyderabad as the originating point, guests could conveniently connect to other cities with AirAsia via klia2, such as Brunei, Hong Kong, Jakarta (Indonesia), Langkawi (Malaysia), Singapore, Krabi & Phuket (Thailand) and Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam).

Guests could also seamlessly connect to destinations operated by AirAsia X flights such as Gold Coast, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney in Australia, with the Fly-Thru service.

At the first point of embarkation, Fly-Thru guests from Hyderabad will receive an onward flight boarding pass and will be allowed to bypass immigration clearance in Kuala Lumpur (klia2), with all check-in baggage tagged for automatic transfer to the consecutive flight, all the way to the final destination.

Fly-Thru guests are also able to enjoy guaranteed connection. In the event of delays caused by the airline resulting in the missing of consecutive flights, AirAsia will automatically accommodate affected Fly-Thru passengers on the next available flight without any additional charges.

Currently, AirAsia Fly-Thru hubs are at the klia2 in Kuala Lumpur, Don Muang International Airport in Bangkok, Denpasar Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali and Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta.

Will this not be messy if/when final destination is domestic within MY ?

Indonesia Air Asia X DPS-MEL did not kick-off as planned on boxing day. Many MEL pax bound for DPS are re-routed via KUL or offered with full refund.

That was why I saw some QZ 9xxx flights from DPS-KUL operated by PK-XRA, their A333.

MEL-KUL-DPS? Now that is a detour!

I pity those souls who chose to put up with 16.5" seats for accumulated time of 12+ hours.
