KUL 32L in 2018

Recommended Posts

Planning my first spotting adventure at 32L soon, can anyone share some tips on heading to the prime spot along the runway (ie: how best to access the road / whether there is any unknown restriction / best time of the day to spot for this runway etc.)?

Would appreciate any input at all!

Thank you in advance. :)

CNY Day 2. This elusive Crystal is finally caught in daylight departure; albeit dramatic skies. She was schedule to Nairobi, Kenya on a Chinese New Year Aircruise named 'Wonders of Africa Safari Adventure' from 17-23 Feb. For you guys info, the package cost USD28K per person based on double occupancy.

Nice catch despite challenging weather conditions! :clapping:

only 1 runway in operation?

Hi David, all 3 runways were in operation.

32R was used for landing. Some aircraft also departed from 32R during the rush hour.

The current unusual 32L ops is attracting a lot of spotters to witness the action. A few more catches from the runway from me:

ANA is planning to remove this special 787 livery from their early 787s soon. Quite understandable, as the aircraft are over 5 years old and will need repainting soon. Plus they are no longer that special as many operators have them already!

I have not spotted MO1's ride at KUL for some time.

Korean aircraft are nocturnal at KUL. So it was a good surprise for me to see this Korean bird in the morning. And a cargo one at that! :)

32L will be used for departure's until 28/2-1/3 as the ILS for 32L/14R is withdrawn. Expect normal operation after that.

This rare and very rich bird tried sneaking out of KUL to SIN. Gueesed that the overnight parking charges there may be more expensive than here.

While 32L departure is still in operations until May, the late afternoon spotting session these days are usually met with a mix of excellent to gloomy weather. Do be careful at times when there is lightning.

The older sister of Iraqi YI-ASA (ex-MH) B744, YI-AQQ has been making some rare appearences into KUL recently. She usually flies around the Middle East region.

Throwback.

If the 747 is the Queen of The Skies, the 225 should be the Queen Momma of the Skies.

After few hours of delay, she is AOG-ed. And she is HUNGRY!!! And needs to be FED!!!. Luckily Chinese Breakfast is around.

Another Negaraku liveried aircraft joins the MAB fleet - this time it is 9M-MTX, the third A332 leased from Aercap.
