Wow. Do keep us updated. Is the hijacker holding the plane hostage or anything like that?

No idea - but it is still sitting at a remote ramp.

No one has deplaned yet.

Flight radar playback showed that it reached a max altitude of 6398 feet before commencing descent back to MEL.

So the bloke attempted to enter the cockpit while seatbelt sign was still on.

He was also holding an electronic item making threats or something??? Claimed to have an explosive, ended up being a power bank in his hand. Read that he's Sri Lankan by nationality.

INCIDENT

Thursday, 01 June 2017 02:33

Emergency services were called to Tullamarine Airport around 11.40pm last night after a request for assistance from an airline.

It is alleged that a man tried to enter the cockpit and threatened the safety of passengers and staff.

The man did not gain entry to the cockpit.

The man was subdued and a safety plan was enacted.

The plane landed safely at the airport and passengers are currently exiting the plane and speaking to investigators.

There appears to be no imminent threat to passengers, staff or public and the investigation is ongoing.

Kudos for the CPT and pilots who brought the plane to land safely down as the aircraft must be too heavy to land considering it just flew less than an hour and that the A330 should be fully laden with fuel for its 8 hour flight back. Dont think the A330 plane have any fuel dumping capability.

Perhaps a clearance certificate from the doctor showing the pax is in normal state of mental health is needed for boarding the plane in future air travel ?

The inconveniences arising from current 'laptop ban' on US and UK destined flights will pale to insignificance by comparison :)

Saw an interview of one of the guys involved in confronting Manodh Marks. Apparently after the initial melee in biz class, the FA chased after Marks when he panicked and ran back into the economy section. Brave crew member, whoever you are, kudos! :good:
