jahur 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2017 (edited) It was enough when they had the B777s but when these were quickly retired in panic, the pressure on the Airbus aircraft became greater. Now that MAB is expanding their services, the widebody deficiency became very clear. Perhaps MAB should consider delaying the retirement of the A380 in 2018. It should retain 4 frames for the LHR service and pass the other two to the charter operation. That way, the new A350s can be used on routes previously serviced by the B777s. The A380 were pretty much bleeding no matter where it was deployed to. You have an overweight+oversized 4 engine hungry plane that actually cost more to operate than the B747-8. Insiders have previously leaked that the previous HKG deployment using the a380 by MAS did not profit even on healthy passenger loads. Now with ICN and NRT in the slot not sure how profitable those route will perform. You either drop the fares to non yielding level to fill up the plane or you fly it light but it will be burdened by operating cost. Bad call by mas to get rid of the B777s. IMO the a380 are better ripped out of MAB standard fleet as soon as possible and get an immediate proper replacement to surplus the A330 network so it would jeopardize the A350 operation. Mr.Bandit 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2017 I guess if what Peter said is going on as per plan, Tango Delta would be the right candidate then. She follows next after Charlie finished..
Mushrif A 3 Report post Posted June 9, 2017 I guess if what Peter said is going on as per plan, Tango Delta would be the right candidate then. She follows next after Charlie finished.. Btw, is that from the electronic version of GP? Seems somebody has spotted Bellew's faux-pas on why Muslims fast and corrected it. In the printed versions that I have, he said that Muslims fast to commemorate the revelation of the Quran. Too bad they didnt also correct the aircraft model type that was given to Najib but probably almost nobody saw this discrepancy.

Rabloo 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2017 Had friends who involved with the maintenance work and we had some talk about it. As for now, there's no plan for painting yet and shockingly, they never heard of it, out of the picture. The crews are catching for deadline which Tango Charlie should be out before Raya celebration to cater for peak season. Add on, Tango Kilo will make a short one week visit to base next week for the same reason. That's because they'll most likely use decals rather than paint. Ja Singh 2 Report post Posted June 14, 2017 just hope the services, catering, IFE will be more "colourful" and lively, not only the livery............ Lots and lots of ways to make the catering better, the service better but.... 1. One simple rule to follow to make it easy for the crew is to offer wine from small bottles (185ml) not gigantic ones as they do now, like emirates and Qantas this makes it easy for the crew. Small miniature coke and lemonade(12oz ) as well and other fizzy drinks they carry so easy for the crew. easy for the crew. 2 -10 for another day 2, Catering... Kul previously circa 90's used to have great catering but declined thru the years....brahims...... but hey we can still return that era for some recreation of great inflight meals. MH is still using stainless jar to serve water and juice, instead of pouring straight from carton/bottle. Miniature drinks cost more per bottle/liter, bean counter is unlikely to approve. But with MH's history in business dealing, highly unlikely will be the case. Edited June 14, 2017 by JuliusWong
