Done KUL LGK on saturday and LGK KUL yesterday.

No PTV - short flight, not a problem

Tight seats - naaah, feels like MH and AK narrowbody planes

Overall - no problem to fly OD 737Max again next time, provided the flight is below 4 hours.

Not surprising - LRC's configuration is similar to Lion Air's.

How was the inflight service?

inflight service

refreshment - OJ or fizzy drinks, no kacang no biscuits

cabin crews - most of them were young, give them time to master their job, there are room for improvement

entertainment - malindomag is available, or BYO

inflight crews - one announcement upon reaching cruising altitude

Boeing: MAX 8 doing well with launch customer Malindo Air

see: http://atwonline.com/airframes/boeing-max-8-doing-well-launch-customer-malindo-air

This article is quite accurate. It was a surprise how much more efficient the aircraft is. Approximately 20% less fuel burn in cruise as compared to the NG for the same payload. Even at lower levels, fuel consumption was incredibly low.

Interesting developments over at BFI :

https://twitter.com/TykesAeroBlog/status/878316267614085124

I've heard from one of my sources that the titles have been removed and it now sports Batik Indonesia titles instead. Hopefully some pics from the spotters will be forthcoming soon.

It's interesting because Batik Indonesia and Lion Air don't share registration sequences and as PK-LQF is already in full Lion Air cs and the next two Maxes PK-LQH and PK-LQG have both been seen at RNT with evidence of Lion Air cs on their rudders, does this mean that LQJ is going to be an oddball in the sequence for Batik or is something else afoot here? Could Lion Air be rebranding as Batik Indonesia perhaps ?

:)

Interesting indeed - it means that Malindo thinks that three LCC configured aircraft will be sufficient on its network.

If it is indeed going to Batik Indonesia, it is a reversal of their plan to go all Airbus.... strange - it sounds like Lion Group does not have a coherent fleet plan for its airlines!

Some rumours are Lion may cancel airbus order. Time will tell.

The reason why OD's MAX delivery is using ANC/NRT route is that the MAX is not yet EDTO rated. The route is actually shorter than the HNL/PNI route, but more expensive in airways and airport charges.

Also LRC/LRD avoid Russian airspace because it takes longer to get the Russian overflight clearance. Maybe with LRF they managed to get it faster hence the Russian route.

The Batk Indonesia oddball PK-LQJ flew across the ocean to HNL and is currently at Guam, which is odd as they usually use Pohnpei.

@ Radzi, are the cost savings from using the island route enough to offset the extra fuel cost? The distance is considerably longer and the Alaska route is renowned for strong westbound headwinds for much of the year too :

BFI-HNL-PNI-KUL : 9674 MILES

BFI-ANC-NRT-KUL : 8235 MILES

BFI-HNL-PNI-BIK-CGK : 9457 MILES

BFI-ANC-NRT-CGK : 8498 MILES

The second B38M, 9M-LRD began revenue flights on 28 June, to DAC.

9M-LRC is now doing short haul to SIN and LGK.

Maybe a case of too many chieftains thus suffering an identity crisis.

Wow! What the heck is going on ?! That's the 3rd change in the space of just over a week! Seeing as it's now got Lion titles I'm expecting the tail to be stripped of the Batik pattern and get the normal Lion Air treatment, although that doesn't explain why they bothered with the Batik Indonesia titles and changed from the Malaysian to the Indonesian flag prior to fly-away.

Jahur, please keep us updated sir.
