flee 5 Report post Posted July 22, 2017 Airasia will take delivery of one of Airbus Industrie's A320Neo test aircraft (MSN 6642) after it has been refurbished. Â This is not the first time they have done this. They have also taken an A320 sharklet test aircraft, MSN 5098 for Indonesia Airasia (reg PK-AZE). It is possible that these planes are sold at a big discount. However, I think Airasia's main reason is that they need to add planes fast - so if they can get the test aircraft faster than normal production aircraft, its good! Mohd Azizul Ramli 2 Report post Posted September 19, 2017 Having a little time to spare so I make a timeline of MH's widebody aircraft based on recent news. Â My assumptions: 1. All planned aircraft type will materialise. 2. A359 delivery is 1 per month but the 6th aircraft is in June 2018. 3. Air Berlin's A332 delivery is 1 per month beginning January 2018. 4. B789 delivery is 1 per month beginning July 2019. 5. A333 retirement at 1 aircraft every 4 months beginning January 2020. 6. A339 delivery at 1 aircraft every 4 months beginning January 2020. Â All are pure speculations on my part. Â Historical fleet at the height of MH in yesteryear: - 17 MP series B744 - 17 MR series B772 - 10 MK series A333 - 5 MK series A332 Total = 49 widebody in mid 2000s. Â MH-Emirates partnership effective from 1 February 2016. I would speculate MH will only start expanding/resuming former destinations if this partnership is terminated. Reference: QF-EK JV lasted for only 5 years.
Mushrif A 3 Report post Posted September 19, 2017 QF-EK JV did NOT last for just 5 years. Â Just because QF is removing the DXB stop does not mean the JV is terminated.
Mohd Azizul Ramli 2 Report post Posted September 28, 2017 Updating my chart with the latest news about the 6 Air Berlin's A332, which materialised. Â My assumptions: 1. All planned aircraft type will materialise. 2. A359 delivery is 1 per month but the 6th aircraft is in June 2018. 3. Air Berlin's A332 delivery is 1 per month beginning February 2018. 4. B789 delivery is 1 per month beginning July 2019. 5. A333 retirement at 1 aircraft every 4 months beginning January 2020. 6. A339 delivery at 1 aircraft every 4 months beginning January 2020. All are pure speculations on my part. Â June 2018 is an interesting month as MH will have the most number of widebody aircraft in the fleet in a while. That is just before the 6 A380s are deactivated.
