BREAKING NEWS: Etihad Airways to sack its CEO James Hogan

Recommended Posts

Following multiple quarters of loss at three EY equity partners (airberlin, Air Serbia and Alitalia), the board of directors at EY is now rumoured to be ditching its CEO James Hogan. James Hogan began his career in 1975 at Ansett Airlines as an ordinary employee, and subsequently held senior positions with British Midland International, Hertz Corporation, Forte Hotels, and Gulf Air.

Etihad’s European expansion has proven to be a misadventure. The Gulf airline has suffered €2.5 billion ($2.6 billion) in losses from its investments in Europe. Air Berlin alone was €477 million in the red in 2015.

Currently Etihad has minority stakes in airberlin (29.21%), Air Seychelles (40%), Aer Lingus (2.987%), Virgin Australia (24.9%), Air Serbia (49%), Darwin Airline (33%), Jet Airways (24%) and Alitalia (49%).

German Slated to Lead Etihad

The Abu Dhabi-based airline Etihad may be on the verge of appointing Christoph Müller as its chief executive. Formerly CEO of Irish flagship carrier Aer Lingus, he also gave Malaysian Airlines a new lease on life after the twin disasters of 2014.

Peter Bellew's isn't half bad.

Mueller was needed to cut the fat, but in the long run he's probably too abrasive.

Yes, true that. Peter Bellew is doing a great job too, but I am curious what CM's long term plan for MH was. Oh well, all the best to him.
