flee 5 Report post Posted August 22, 2016 9M-XXT- A330-343E- Xcintillating PhoeniX 9M-XAD- A330-202- this was mainly leased to Saudia and never saw service on the main line. So never got a name. Post ex-CEO Asran Osman Rani, I think the naming of aircraft has ceased. The original 9M-XBA MSN1619 (now Thai Airasia X's HS-XTE) was named Poetic Xcellence. The subsequent 9M-XBA MSN1670, never got a name.
JuliusWong 0 Report post Posted August 23, 2016 I always thought "Xcintillating PhoeniX" livery is meant to be a "special livery", not as a "name". Nice name though. Being an OCD myself, I wish Benyamin will carry over those names from retired fleet to current unnamed ones.
flee 5 Report post Posted August 23, 2016 (edited) I wish Benyamin will carry over those names from retired fleet to current unnamed ones. Well, aviation practices closely resemble maritime practices - however, it would seem that the naming of aircraft is not as commonly practiced as naming ships. Radzi 2 Report post Posted August 23, 2016 Well, aviation practices closely resemble maritime practices - however, it would seem that the naming of aircraft is not as commonly practiced as naming ships. My guess is, unlike ships, not many people cares about the name of an aircraft. There is the registration too which is used for official purposes. When MH had names on their B747s, nobody within the company ever bother about them. I can imagine the same with AirAsia X.
