Penang (WMKP/PEN) 2016

Recommended Posts

Thanks Laurie. Yes, it is really rare for an A340 to come in, even more so now without Cathay. Good Catch.

Saw that it was still there last night. Hope to catch it in flight one day.

Spotted a large convoy of vehicles and police at Gurney Plaza 2 days ago so must be Brunei Royalty having a shopping trip?

What aircraft catering facilities are available for PEN?

Brahims has a small branch at PEN

The large convoy was apparently staying at Bayview Hotel (when I pass by y'day)......they blocked the whole road just outside the hotel.....if not wrong I counted 7-8 Black Vellfires all tinted up and couple of S400 black all tinted up....the security staff i saw around the vehicles all wearing songkok

These deliveries to Perth bound to start slowing... And might see the reverse flow out of Perth with Capacity cuts on regional and intrastate routes, given the mining slowdown...

Selamat Hari Raya everyone !!!

Thanks Raj. I guess it is also due to the arrangement of the middle gear that adds to it too.

MIR, was lucky enough to do a trip today. Got the Kiwi :). Will post those up soon.

Thanks Laurie, and Raymund for the heads up. TG425 / TG426 have been operated by 777s this whole Raya week. More people coming to Penang I guess. Surprised that Dragonair didn't add the additional evening flight to Penang with their 320.

Noticed that Thai was sending their 777 to Penang, so.... why not. Did a trip there and was surprised by this visitor.

The military scheme actually works in camoflaging against the environment. Brahim's Catering did a good job in nulling the effect.

Thank you so much for that shot of the KA 333 on push back

Confirmation there that the white on the engines do have that very slight blueish hue, against the white of the fuselage

Anyone has any idea why ?

Guess they didn't paint the engine when transfer from CX?

Read from A.net that KA and CX swapped parts A LOT (parts like cowlings and sorts). So rather than having patches of colours that didn't belong to their respective aircraft, all were standardized to CX colours.

That KA cowling with red dragon logo would stick out like some ginormous sore thumb on a CX bird ! :)

No where near as discreet as when one of the MH 742 sported a QF thrust reverser :D

Yup. Most probably an upgrade for the holidays. They are still sending them here.

You know how we would walk on the Tarmac to AirAsia planes? Looks like the same treatment for the Kiwis  . Always happy to see movement. Indicates that something will be moving soon.

Some action from the Pearl of the Orient.

Arrived to find this soaring overhead. Looking sleek.

28816288166_63053449bd_c.jpg

To say that the lighting was horrendous would be a complete understatement. That said, it was an enjoyable session nonetheless as the cool wind was always blowing.

Have not seen this in a long time

And guess who decided to drop by. First time seeing this here. Had a turnaround time of about 40 minutes. Operating for Firefly perhaps? Landing looked a wee bit shaky.

My attention was directed to something alive and stationary.

28816219176_6f6ddc3919_c.jpg

Mynah

This one looked a little bit different from the others. It wasn't hopping around or sounding like the normal Mynahs. It was looking like it was in deep thought.

Some more coming.
