Lolx, transit in TPE and narrowbody all the way to CTS?? No thank you.

Hehehe, don't laugh - Air China is also sending its 737 Max from PEK to KUL. That is 6 hours non stop!

What's wrong with narrowbody? Last year I flew EY-class both on A380 (SQ) and Embraer 145 (AA). Flying as a passenger on the Embraer with 1-2 seat configuration was much more fun than being inside the A380 which feels like being in a hall.

Anyone flown on the first gen D7 A330? Those that can't recline but the seat slide to the front? I'd prefer MH/OD B738 over those anytime.

Have Malindo meanwhile a Crewbase at Denpasar for the routes to Australia?

No. Crew operated all the way from KUL to Australia. For the return sector, replacement crew will be paxed from KUL for the KUL - DPS sector while the crew from Australia will pax back on the same flight.

OD deadheads crew both ways (instead of putting crew in a hotel at destination)?

"The reality is many can't [survive]. Only a few are doing well, namely AirAsia, Lion Air, VietJet and Cebu Pacific. The rest struggle to make ends meet," warned Shukor Yusof, founder of and analyst at the Singapore-based Endau Analytics.

He sees Nok Air in Thailand, Malaysia's Malindo and a slew of smaller airlines in Indonesia at risk of bankruptcy.

Is Malindo withdrawing from Colombo? I can't seem to be able to make any booking in April anymore. CMB is also taken out from destination selection drop down list.

Only flex and Business available....yes looks like they are going out!

They open some new routes but no new jets, so they have to canx other routes.

Looks like no fresh money from indonesia for Malindo...

Competition is intensifying in the Australia-Bali market as Malaysia’s Malindo Air launches services in 2Q2019 from Adelaide and Sydney to Bali, using fifth freedom rights. Virgin Australia is also launching services from Darwin to Bali in Apr-2019, and Qantas is adding capacity from Sydney to Bali by upgauging to A330s.

Malindo already competes on the Melbourne-Bali and Brisbane-Bali routes and its Indonesia-based sister airline Batik Air serves Perth-Bali. With the launch of Adelaide and Sydney the Lion Group will therefore compete on the five largest Australia-Bali routes.

Malaysia’s AirAsia X is also now considering the launch of services from Bali to Australia using fifth freedom rights, taking a page from the strategy playbook of rival Malindo. However, AirAsia X will have to settle on a limited number of frequencies or wait for Malaysia to negotiate an expanded air services agreement with Indonesia, since the current bilateral caps the number of fifth freedom Bali-Australia weekly frequencies to 28.

Interesting information in my eyes!

With a lot of flights to/from DPS, I hope OD can spread out the KUL-DPS vv sectors evenly throughout the day and not all 4 or 5 flights arriving in/departing from DPS at around the same time. During my last trip, although OD was my first choice of carrier, the plan had to be abandoned as MH has better arrival and departure time ex DPS.

OD has morning flights ex KUL to DPS with flights returning to KUL around noon. There are also flights ex KUL in the late afternoon with aircraft continuing to Australia. The Australian flights will reach DPS around noon as well, unfortunately making ex DPS flights to KUL concentrated in the midday.

OD will get a lot of traffic if it can get something similar to MH850/851 timing.

DPS being in the same time zone as KUL would mean most passengers ex KUL prefer to arrive around hotel check-in time (1 to 3 pm) and depart a couple of hours after hotel check-out time (2 to 4 pm).

I paid premium to fly on these timings during the last trip.
