S V Choong 4 Report post Posted May 14, 2017 Malindo to be renamed Batik Air BATIK Air is going to be the new name for Malindo Air. This will come into effect in the second half of this year, but everything else will remain the same. The rationale behind the branding change is to better align the offerings within Indonesia’s Lion Air Group stable of airlines to ensure there is seamless full service travel domestically and internationally. “The feeder traffic from Lion Air group is not much now but the dynamics will change with Batik Air in the second half of this year,’’ Malindo Air CEO Chandran Rama Muthy says. “We, Malindo Air (Batik Air Malaysia) will be the international link within the Lion Air group while the existing Batik Air Indonesia will continue to serve the Indonesian market and it is a full service carrier. We will promote Batik Air Malaysia brand across the 16 countries we operated in, and this will be a boost to our country, heritage and culture,’’ Chandran says. The Lion Air Group controls Lion Air, Wings Air, Batik Air (Indonesia), Lion Bizjet, Malaysia’s Malindo Air, and Thailand’s Thai Lion Air. Malindo is 49% owned by Lion Group, controlled by Rusdi Kirana and his brother, and the remaining 51% is held predominately held by Chandran. Craig 0 Report post Posted August 21, 2017 (edited) First Qatar, now ANA ...... And the Red's former partner no less ......... Again this is an interline agreement, not a code-share/JV etc. deal. It's a win-win with OD benefitting from NH's traffic and NH has more (albeit limited) connections beyond KUL to fill its KUL flight (HND-KUL has been or will be downgraded to 788 again btw). Edit: Just checked - NH is simply adding OD as an interline partner and MH did not lost NH as an interline partner. e.g. allowed routing for a simple TYO-SIN flight: 1. TYO-NH-SIN/KUL-VN/TG/SQ/PG/OD/NH/MI/MH-SIN 2. TYO-NH-TYO-NH-SIN/KUL-VN/TG/SQ/PG/OD/NH/MI/MH-SIN 3. TYO-NH-PNH/MNL/KUL/HAN-VN/SQ/PR/NH/MI/MH-SIN 4. TYO-NH-TYO-NH-PNH/MNL/KUL/HAN-VN/SQ/PR/NH/MI/MH-SIN 5. TYO-NH-SIN 6. TYO-NH-TYO-NH-SIN Edited August 21, 2017 by Craig
GeO 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2017 On paper only. Just like NADI's stake before. Malindo is basically 100% Rusdi's Agree. Rusdi is controlling everything. They announced it a long time ago - almost two years. What took them so long? Keep hearing it all the time without any concrete dates. Heard it's something to do with their AOC. If they change rebrand, they need to apply for new AOC from DCA.
JuliusWong 0 Report post Posted April 27 Six years in the making....finally....... Malindo Air is Batik Air from tomorrow https://www.nst.com.my/news/nation/2022/04/792384/malindo-air-batik-air-tomorrow?fbclid=IwAR1n33_4rfOz7ziNomellsH-3t_eEuRh6x_qlEAFLAukjW1F3xEoQJ-T7O0 KUALA LUMPUR: Effective midnight, Malindo Air will be known as Batik Air. The Malaysia-based regional airline announced this evening its official rebranding. "The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia has granted a new Air Operators Certificate to Malindo Airways Sdn Bhd to do business as Batik Air with effect from April 28," the airline said in a statement. Malindo Air is a subsidiary company of the Lion Air Group. Other airlines under its stable include Super Jet, Wings Air, Batik Air Indonesia, Biz Jet, Thai Lion Air and Lion Air. The rebranding exercise, it said, was in line with the Lion Group's goal to establish a common identity for the full service airlines within the group.
