Malindo to be Rebranded as Batik Air Malaysia; Moved to MTB; to Partner ex MAS Codeshare Airlines

Recommended Posts

Always notice AirAsia guys make it most of the time during marginal weather. When they report landing was at absolute minimum while the rest diverted, seems obvious its either they push it below minima or they are damn good.

Ask them how much extra fuel they carry

Ak is in compliance of minimum fuel requirements. Ak pilots could received more training on landing at minimum. Hence more competent to land.

Not sure if AK pilots are more skilled or if the fly by wire system is more responsive to pilot inputs.

AK flights have skidded off the runways in East Malaysia and Brunei before. Maybe that is why they have decided to give them more training?

Wind velocity is not constant. Wind gust could be above maximum allowable and is a risk of landing at maximum.

All airlines will claim that safety comes first in any situation but it is also known that some companies are more Go minded than others. There should be no criticism for the decision taken by the Malindo pilots to go around and diverted. The fact that the aircraft ahead or behind manage to land should not be used to judge whether the Malindo pilots were right or not. Usually accidents or incidents only happen to those that push it to far rather than those who took the less risky option.

Well said, pilots should make decisions based on the capability of their equipment and personnel. They should not act outside the safety envelope pre-determined by their airline.

Being commander in flight is never easy. Maybe for them, they preferred to divert to nearest available airport with support services rather than one that doesn't. AirAsia X diversion to Bali Airport recently was handled quite badly altough AirAsia Indonesia has certain level of operation there. Worst thing that could happened is the pilots insisted on landing at adverse weather and ended up crash landing like Air France Flight 358 or Air India Express 812. Miri might not the best airport to divert as it has a small apron, Sibu may not have support. Brunei might not good for diversion due to inclement weather.

"Divert to the nearest suitable alternate"

The word suitable is always open to interpretation.

Malindo, Turkish Airlines team up to tap new markets

Malindo Air has teamed up with Turkish Airlines to tap new markets as well as enable passengers to find connections easier when travelling between Asean and Europe.
Malindo Air Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Chandran Rama Muthy, said this on Friday interline partnership would make travel seamless from this region, reward frequent travellers on Malindo Air and offer passengers even more options when travelling to Turkey and beyond.
"With the announcement of our partnership with Turkish Airlines, Malindo Air continues to expand our network, including more flights, more gateways and more destinations.
"Malindo Air will provide another option for travel trade in Asean and to Australia. The success of this interline partnership will open doors for us to code-share with other suitable partners," he said.

What a coup! Congrats Malindo.

So now can we expect more Malindo flights to Australia and more TK flights into KUL (from 2 daily at the moment)?

Interesting.. It wasn't supposed to be TK as far as I knew.. haha.

Anyway, congrats Malindo. Agree Azizul, let's keep an eye on TK's future ops in KUL.

So no need for OD to send their metals all the way to Europe (future Star Alliance members perhaps?)! MH-EK lesson learnt...

If OD could code share domestic routes and provide seamless interline with foreign airlines e.g. EY, QR, KL, BA, CX, TG, KE, NH would be a win win for all.

Love the tail but not the title. I think it's just better to stick with the Malindo brand instead.

I think the livery at the rear of the plane is full of clarity as to the origin of the airline. However, little can be said for the wordings which looks like an after-thought.

Wondered if the cabin crews' attire will have some batik infusion as well?

Agreed. "Batik Air Malaysia" is such a long name to pronounce.

Aiseiman..surely they could have hired some professional graphic designer to design a special font for 'Batik' rather than just use standard brush font right from the drop bar.. and the tail design is more songket than batik.. this is just plain ad-hoc :bad:

IMO, East Coast Batik motif could hv represent Malaysia better (since it will be 9M- registered aircraft).

The font and overall title is like looking at shop front signage somewhere...😆
