MAB New Economy Plus Cabin on All Existing 15 A333, 6 A380 and 6 A359

Recommended Posts

Some quick info: Next kopek: Tango India. Next kopek after that: Tango Lima.

As for Y+ don't get too excited: I measured it, it's 36 inches pitch and talking to the chief of commercial just now, for now, you can assign it as a regular seat, but later they will price it accordingly.

Thanks for the pictures, really wished it would be a proper Y+ offering instead.

Quick question: if you were given a choice between a windowless Y+ seat and a windowed standard Y seat, both at the same price, which would you choose?

Nice pictures everyone! Keep them coming. IMO, they should have use the chance to launch the new branding at the same since they are launching new hardware. Would have been more cost saving and reduce downtime in future.

Good to see its fabric and not leather seat! But dont like the colour of both the Y+ and new biz seats...one is too garang the other too tame hmmm.. :(

Seriously - this Y+ or super Y or Y deluxe or Y istimewa or whatever.... is nothing to get excited about.. (sorry to be a wet blanket)

If you're in row 9, the front row, your legroom is NOT unlimited. It is unlimited in row 11 and 28 (which are the existing emex seats).

If you're in row 10, the second row, again, you have a bit more legroom than the rest of the punters, but it's not much more and, you're missing a window.

From what I can tell with my discussions yesterday, these two rows weren't specifically planned to be "special". They looked at the J cabin, decided on how many seats they wanted, and whatever was left, was given to 2 rows of Y. Make no mistake, Business class was the favourite son, whose needs and whims were accomodated first, not Super Y. The gestation of the config for these 2 rows is decidedly LESS Sexy and glamorous and interesting than we think.

As it turned out - there were a few more inches going spare (they couldn't fit 3 row, to fit 1 was a bit of a waste). If the J seat somehow had 1-2 inches more pitch each row, you'd still have row 9 and 10, but they would not even be noteworthy.

In short, after looking it hard up and down, the seats of choice, in the ENTIRE Economy cabin (super or not super), remain the AC and HK seats in rows 11 and 28, if legroom is what you're after.

They should just installed few more extra J class seats, rather than a half backed Y+ seats. Few inches more for last few J class is negligible. I hope MH will pre-empt pax that their window Y+ seats has no window......

Yeah, because more J seats = more profit...

Only if you can fill them with cash paying pax!

I believe MAB knows their average J class load factors and have installed the maximum economic number of seats. I do not think it should be that difficult to add more J class seats in future, if demand for them is higher than originally expected.

So, they actually used the term Premium Economy to describe that two rows behind J.. Although this isn't reflected in the booking page (which is good as many travellers would be confused/disappointed with the actual hard product).

Any idea if Y+ on the A380 is going to be an actual Y+ with new better hard products?
