Chris Tan 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2017 premium economy is the grey coloured seats i believe? apart from extra legroom hopefully other service extras can justify the extra fare imposedIts clear that MH isnt launching a new, distinct CX/SQ-style PEY product, just a few rows of Y with extra legroom like what youd find on KLM and US carriers. The extra fare you pay is for extra legroom and perhaps a more private cabin. Apart from that, theres nothing to suggest that itll be a full-on PEY product. Its really not that different from paying for an EMEX seat now. A real, district PEY will easily cost 2x the price on long hauls. Then you can expect some minor improvements to service. Mushrif A 3 Report post Posted November 30, 2017 reduced number of lavatories to give way for 2 prayer rooms, the first in the world for A350 i think. Well, it would have been the first in the world too if MH had instead placed potties in the places which you called prayer rooms!!
Waiping 12 Report post Posted December 1, 2017 Malaysia Airlines receives first GST-exempt A350 XWB aircraft See: http://www.theedgemarkets.com/article/malaysia-airlines-receives-first-gstexempt-a350-xwb-aircraft Not sure what GST exempt means - maybe they don't have to pay GST on the operating lease costs. But the rationale for exemption seems a bit off... Huh? Maybe what they are trying to say is you can avoid paying GST if you buy an airplane.
RaymondT 0 Report post Posted December 1, 2017 reduced number of lavatories to give way for 2 prayer rooms, the first in the world for A350 i think. The prayer "rooms" are just curtained off "Exit Doors" space for privacy, at least from what I can see on the plan. They aren't any specialised space. I think there are 2 lavatories accessible to those in the F cabin, both located in front and one on each side. One is directly in front of 1K and the other is on port side behind the cockpit. Looks like a coat room in front of 1K though?

Khalil Abd Halim 0 Report post Posted December 1, 2017 unfortunately MH's A350 webpage isnt 100% functional as believe there should be a feature video on the A350 and the products offered and only 3 pictures showing the 3 classes without any details of the same, kind of lacklustre effort to promote the novelty of this plane i believe and in this Youtube video of the welcoming ceremony you may see the feature video at 18:40 onwards and they made a blunder at 19:00 while featuring business class services with obviously the first class seat. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oi2AE_RCt3U

Chris Tan 0 Report post Posted December 1, 2017 Their website named the Y+ as Premium Economy Class Real PEY products have their own unique fare buckets, usually along the lines of W, T, E, etc. What are the fare buckets for this supposedly distinct class of service you mention? flee 5 Report post Posted December 2, 2017 Malaysia Airlines takes delivery of its first A350 XWB First A350-900 in Air Lease Corporation’s fleet Malaysia Airlines Berhad (MAB) has taken delivery of its first A350-900, leased from Air Lease Corporation (NYSE: AL) (ALC), becoming the 17th airline to operate the world’s newest, most modern and efficient twin engine widebody airliner. The delivery was celebrated upon arrival at Kuala Lumpur International Airport. ALC receives its first A350-900 out of an order for 29 A350 Family aircraft. Eventually Malaysia Airlines will operate six A350-900s, all leased from ALC. Malaysia Airlines will initially deploy the aircraft on flights within Asia. From the first quarter of 2018, the A350 will fly on the airline’s premier long haul service from Kuala Lumpur to London. Malaysia Airlines is the first carrier to offer a First Class cabin in the A350-900. The aircraft is configured in a three class cabin layout with a total of 286 seats. This comprises four in First Class, 35 in Business, featuring convertible seats to fully flat beds and 247 in Economy. Malaysia Airlines already operates 24 Airbus aircraft including six A380, 15 A330-300 and three A330-200F on its regional routes and long haul services. Malaysia Airlines CEO Captain Izham Ismail said, “We are very excited to welcome this new addition to our family. With its technological advancements the A350-900 is an important milestone for us on this journey, helping boost our competitiveness on our long haul flights. The addition of the A350-900 also underlines our commitment to operate a young and modern fleet.” “Our first A350-900 represents a milestone for ALC, and for Malaysia Airlines. We are very confident that the A350-900 will deliver outstanding performance, efficiency, and economics for our airline customers” said John Plueger, CEO and President of Air Lease Corporation. “We are proud at Airbus to count Malaysia Airlines as a new operator of the world’s most modern and efficient aircraft,’’ said John Leahy, Chief Operating Officer- Customers, Airbus Commercial Aircraft. ‘’Congratulations also to ALC for receiving the first A350 XWB in its fleet, proving the popularity of this aircraft in the lessor community across the globe. We are looking forward to our continued partnership with Malaysia Airlines and ALC - two major companies in the aviation industry.’’ The A350 XWB benefits from the latest aerodynamic design, carbon fibre fuselage and wings, plus new fuel-efficient Rolls-Royce engines. Together, these latest technologies translate into unrivalled levels of operational efficiency, with a 25 per cent reduction in fuel burn and emissions, and significantly lower maintenance costs. The aircraft features an Airspace cabin which, on top of the aircraft’s spaciousness and quietness, provides better ambience, design and services, contributing to superior levels of comfort and well-being, and setting new standards in terms of flight experience for all passengers. To date, Airbus has recorded a total of 858 firm orders for the A350 XWB from 45 customers worldwide, already making it one of the most successful widebody aircraft ever.
