WARNING: Spotting Using Drones

Recommended Posts

Found this pic posted in 'The Spotters' in FB.

This is total unacceptable. Flying a drone so near to an aircraft, It may cause another aviation disaster.

Anyone who know this guy, give him a punch on his face....

Anyone made any report to DCA or police yet? If this continue in future we may not be able to spot near airport perimeter.

oh no. Totally irresponsible. This isn't something to brag about. Better notify DCA/Police asap and like waiping said spotters might be prohibited near the airport perimeter because of such incident.

That instagram post was at least 13 weeks old. If "taking action now" means questioning or arresting the guy then it is okay. Hopefully it doesn't means "beredar" to the law-abiding spotters.

Old or new, it is still a dangerous thing to do. MAHB should really do something to enhance safety. They should work with us, the law abiding aviation enthusiasts! :)

Malaysia cannot afford to have another air disaster!

Doesn't matter if it is 53 weeks old or 53 months old. As long as he did it, then he should be held responsible for his actions.

Could conduct a man hunt now...

Even if there is no official regulation regarding prohibition of drones near airports, a simple common sense will say it is very dangerous.

I hope even the RMAF will act on those involved

A active fellow spotter was arrested by avsec during spotting at KLIA perimeter. So this is off limit for now, again. :(

Masuk jail kah? Or kena fine saja?

So what will happen to the planned 10th anniversary if the airport is off-limit to spotters?

No jail but was bought to the police station for questioning, according to his facebook posting.

One cannot help but contrast that with the welcoming scene at Illawara Airport courtesy of Mr Kee's pictures here

http://www.malaysianwings.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=20295&hl= :(

Why blame the authorities when oned10t spoiled the scene? If the authorities did nothing non-spotters will bash them to no avail for not taking action because those people don't understand the motivations of spotters.

But MAB Corporate has always been more receptive towards the spotter community, as some members here can attest

I think it is only in recent times that they have softened their stance towards the plane spotter community. However, they still do not view them as proper allies to help them monitor and counter the activities of those who commit illegal acts. In the UK, plane spotters actually help the authorities, thereby reducing the chances of "bad" things happening.

I think all of us here at Mwings condemn the acts of that irresponsible, attention seeking moron of a person. However, instead of investigating their acts, they tar everyone with the same brush. This tends to happen in this country - the authorities fail to catch the wrongdoer but punish everyone else for the acts of the wrongdoer!

Lets hope that the indiscriminate harassment of innocent non-drone flying plane spotters will stop ASAP!

The authories MUST BE BLAMED because instead of tracking that yengnasir drone guy and arrest him, they instead arrested one of our own, who did nothing wrong.

Please do not blindly suck up to authorities who clearly do not act right.
