D7 has now also placed -XXG back into service following it's recent wet-lease to PIA and subsequent ground collision. That's the entire fleet of ''bought from the factory'' A333's back in-service, although I did see one go to BKI last week, so at least they are keeping the fleet busy.

I notice -XAA is still active, thought this was meant to be gone in Q3.

Well, I did not see any D7 aircraft parked on the remote stands outside the cargo complex. The only parked aircraft are the two MH A380s, the retired B777s and some B737s of Malindo and MAB.

Except for 9M-XXH, 9M-XXQ and 9M-XBA, all other A333 are now working. Some are working extra hard than others though. Note that AirAsia has upgraded some domestic flight equipment to A333 due to holiday season.

9M-XXG has been doing mainly Jeddah service after her return from PIA. Also 9M-XXA is now in all white livery.

It is the best quarter to make money, all birds should be flying in the air....including those MH A380 and OD B738...Oh well, another story.

I thought 9M-XBA is now HS-XTE?

Read in The Star that AK has chartered an A333 from XJ to do some flights between DMK-KUL during the Christmas/New Year.

From Skyliner:

Airbus A330 -343 1646 F-WWKM BOC Aviation ferried 29dec15 TLS-LDE for interim storage

Airbus A330 -343 1659 F-WWYG BOC Aviation ferried 30dec15 TLS-LDE for interim storage

These two frames were destined to be Airasia X's 9M-XBB and 9M-XBC - now in storage. Will AirAsia X or its Thai and Indonesian associates take them later in 2016 or will BOC lease them to other airlines?

AirAsia X switches remaining A330s to re-engined variant

https://www.flightglobal.com/news/articles/airasia-x-switches-remaining-a330s-to-re-engined-var-420723/

AirAsia X is taking the A330-900neo version of the new long-haul jet. The change raises its A330-900neo orders from 55 to 66, and effectively wipes out the carrier's A330-300 order backlog.

Being a OCD person myself, I can't tally the numbers.

AirAsia X order was:

Factory fresh: 51

Currently delivered- 19

Waiting to be delivered/ completed- 5 (MSN 1646, 1659, 1670, 1674 and 1712)

To be built- 27

They announced during Q2 result announcement they had cancelled 14 A330ceo.

Yesterday, Airbus announced AirAsia X had switched remaining order to 11 A330ceo to A330neo.

Two A333ceo gone missing.......

(*Above numbers does not include 9M-XAA and six leased ILFC aircraft)

Yes, I am trying hard to understand the numbers too.

The latest info to come out of D7 is that they will be taking 4 A333s this year. These must be the built up units that are currently stored but it is still one short of the MSNs mentioned above.

So were those 4 frames included in Airbus' numbers? Or will they be included in BOC or other lessors' numbers?

From: http://www.theedgemarkets.com/my/article/aax-optimistic-about-returning-black-fy16

Benyamin said AAX will introduce another three new routes this year, one to Hawaii and two to China, aside from increasing the frequency of flights on routes that are doing well.

“We will see a delivery of four new aircraft this year, of which two will be delivered to Malaysia. The two new aircraft will fill up the new routes,” he said.
Currently, AAX’s core fleet comprises 26 units of A330-300s.

Lolx, you are as bingung as me. I think I have the answer.

I believe those four A330ceo AirAsia X will be taking this year are those already built and in storage.

I read in another forum stating BOC Aviation has cancelled 1 A330ceo order, believe to be destined for AirAsia X. This might be MSN 1712. It will get allocated to other airlines or simply labelled as "Not Built".

A mistake by Benyamin: AAX has 20 A330ceo. Thai AirAsia X has 5; Indonesia AirAsia X has 2.

In summary;

Total 'factory fresh' order: 51

  • Currently delivered- 19
  • Waiting to be delivered/ completed- 4 (MSN 1646, 1659, 1670, 1674)
  • Converted to A330neo- 11
  • Cancelled- 15 (14 +1 BOC order)

Short of 2 factory fresh A330ceo , vaporised into the air.... :p

To confuse things further, Airbus worksheet shows only 11 A330ceo cancellation, conversion to A330neo. The 14 A330ceo cancellation was not mentioned.

Well we are finding it hard to track because we are not sure which orders belong to lessors and which are direct.

Apparently, the 11 cancellations are those deliveries that were originally scheduled for 2018 (7) and 2019 (4).

According to the original delivery schedule, D7 were supposed to take delivery of 8 aircraft p.a. from 2015-2017. With the latest available information, we had 4 deliveries in 2015 and 4 deliveries are scheduled for 2016. Therefore, there are still 16 aircraft "missing". However, Airbus does not have any more direct orders from D7 for the A330ceos - so these 16 should be in lessors' order books.

Couple of MASWings ATR72-600 series are being ferried to SZB on FR24 at the moment. Heard the entire 600 series might be taken out of MASWings fleet roster and moved to Firefly due to underutilize and also the series are not partly sponsored by State gov as compared to the 500 series.

Thank you for the update Greg and Flee.

AirAsia X will only take another one or two new A333 this year before switching to A330neo. Some of AirAsia X new built A333 currently sitting at TLS will be sold to other airlines, marked as ntu already.

Some older A333 will also be retired, 9M-XXA is now operating in all white, future is undetermined. 9M-XAA has gone for good.
