2015-2016 Aircraft Deliveries to MAS Group, AirAsia Group & Malindo

Recommended Posts

It's about time! XAA brought me back home from Busan two years back and the age of the cabin is really showing. Cabin lights are already yellowish in colour

Hehe! The cabin light are from first A330 generation, must be using those light diode instead of LED (??) we see nowadays on most newer aircraft.

Note that she is cn 054, even older than Malaysia Airlines's first A330 (cn067) 9M-MKA which is now Coke cans. :p

Tom, seems like your prediction is correct. 9M-XBA is indeed replacing 9M-XAA based on latest CAPA report.

Goodbye old EI bird, you have served D7 well, especially with OOL launching back in 2007!! D7 first destination!

I was on that flight! Travelled with A.Net's Airpearl which was unplanned. Met Uncle Tony and Kamarudin Meranun in person. Then got to rub shoulders with Azran aboard. Such happy memories on that special flight.

Air Asia Malaysia A320-216 cn3610 9M-AJW ex-Indonesia AirAsia PK-AXA transferred to mother company.

On side note, Indonesia AirAsia will cease to exist, merging into Indonesia AirAsia Extra in order for latter to retain its Indonesia AOC.

Some IAA A320 will be transferred back to parent company.

-XXG which is one of the A333's on lease to PIA was damaged in a ground accident at Karachi last month when a loader collided with the fuselage near the front cargo door, puncturing the skin.

A quick check on FR24 reveals that the aircraft hasn't flown in some time either.

Does -AJW still wear the Chevrolet SPirit of INdonesia livery?

I'm also led to believe that PK-AXK will transfer across and take up the rego 9M-AJV.

As a side note, does AK have anymore factory fresh A320CEO's on order?

Does -AJW still wear the Chevrolet SPirit of INdonesia livery?

Unlikely as this aircraft was stored for a while, most likely for repainting.

Skyliner reports:

Airbus A320 -216 3610 9M-AJW AirAsia first in svc 27sep15 KUL-JHB-KUL ex PK-AXA

So it looks like Indonesia Airasia's fleet will shrink to 22 aircraft officially, with two aircraft returned to AK and five aircraft taken up by XT. XT needs those aircraft in order to comply with Indonesia's civil aviation regulations.

It looks like both QZ and XT will be going to have a really tough Q4 2015 and also a tough 2016.

Airfleets are showing 9M-AJT as having left the fleet and FR24 doesn't show it flying since arriving into KL on the 30/9 from TWU.

-AJT was originally destined for I5 as VT-ATD but was ntu.

Any ideas?

Looks like XBA will not be coming...

Some conflicting info.

From skyliner: Airbus A330 -343 1643 HS-XTE ex F-WWKM Thai AirAsia X

According to planespotters.net, cn1619 is AirAsia X ntu, now going to Thai AirAsia X as HS-XTE. Delivery date was yesterday 8/OCT/2015

Pity though, she was supposed to get the name "Poetic Xcellence"

If you look at that flickr photo that I linked, they just changed the sticker for the Malaysia flag to that of Thailand.

The name is still on the nose.

There are photos on flickr showing cn 1619 as -XBA taken just 3 days ago.

Interesting..

Yes indeed. My spotters friend in Thailand has spotted her having her rest at DMK gate.

Coincidentally, my mum came into KUL from BWN last Friday on board 9M-AJW. The plane looked brand new and was properly cleaned up before handling back to AirAsia Malaysia.

It has now the latest "airasia.com" livery.

Anyone knows the route taken by AirAsia for delivery flights (A320)? Where do they usually have stops on the way to KL?

Toulouse- Sharjah- Kuala Lumpur usually. Occasionally Cairo.

Lately the delivery flights are routed TLS-DWC-KUL.
Interesting routing for the first Airasia Japan delivery flight: TLS-CAI-MCT-RGN-NGO
Perhaps this route was chosen because the aircraft does not have ETOPS certification.

Thank you :) was wondering where they usually stop because the A320 doesn't have the range for a direct.

The planes will be quite light since there are only a few staff on board - so the range will be longer as it can carry more fuel.

Yes, they do since B738 fleet is now more than B739ER.

Their latest delivery, 9M-LNV, is also a B738. They may be finding that the B738 is a more suitable aircraft than the B739 for their routes.

9M-XAA should be end of lease by now right? Have not seen it flying for awhile now and not seen sitting in Klia.

Any idea ?

She seems to be out of action since her return flight from Taoyuan Intl (TPE) - Kuala Lumpur Intl (KUL) D7377 on 27/SEPT/2015. Mind be over in Manila or Singapore for post-lease refurbishment.

According to Kahala Aviation's press release, she is destined for scrapyeard.

Malindo Air Receives 15th Boeing Jet
SUBANG, 29 OCT 2015 – Malindo Air, the Airline of the Year in Passenger category as ranked at KLIA Awards 2014, received its 15th Boeing aircraft yesterday as the aircraft, bearing registration number 9M-LNV, arrived at Subang Skypark from Seattle, USA. The new addition brings the airline’s fleet size to 26, including 11 ATR turboprop aircraft.
The new aircraft will be operated on regional routes as the airline focuses on progressively expanding its route network internationally this year.
The airline is also expected to take delivery of its 16th Boeing jet next month, closing the year on a high note alongside new route announcements to Australia, China, and further points of Asia.

According to flightradar24 Lion Air 737-8 PK-LPL just landed at KUL direct from Honolulu at 03.30 local.

Wondering why delivery flight was to KUL.
