BKI/WBKK 2015

Recommended Posts

China United Airlines CRJ-200 (B-4007) arrived BKI today around 2.30pm from Darwin.

Thanks bro. Didn't see it and it's raining cats and dogs since then until now.

Any pics of the now busy T1 ramp??

Just now, went rayau-rayau (roaming) the airport, sorry though no pics. From what I saw:

Terminal 2
  • Devoid of passengers.
  • Some few security personnel sitting at the information kiosk.
  • Large rubbish bins are put on the drop-off area.
  • AirAsia logo still prominently placed at the now empty check-in counters.

Terminal 1

  • By 10.30pm, I counted roughly 10 parked aircrafts.
  • AirAsia seems to occupy gates A3 until A5 (totalling 6 parking spaces).
  • Malaysia Airlines planes occupy gates A6 and beyond.
  • MASWings planes parked at around gates A10-A11.
  • Foreign airlines occupy gates A1-A2.
  • Departure hall is busier than before - there were practically no space to park cars. AirAsia check-in counters were lively. There are also self check-in kiosks provided by the airline.
  • Arrival hall is even busier - congested to the brim. Car traffic flow was almost reduced to a crawl. Seems like Arrival Hall 1 & 2 are livelier than before, even Arrival Hall 3 is alive with crowds.
  • Positive impact to amenities - more customers patronizing at shops, eateries and banks.

Ak has deployed D7's A333 to BKI today (not sure about previous days).

Saw a D7 A333 flight depart BKI around 5.40pm with AXM8xxx as call sign. (OMG the jam at KK today :aggressive: ). Now there is an inbound D7 A33 callsign AXM8712 Rego 9M-XXF.

Heard the news that early morning today, flight MU782 DPS-PEK diverted to here due to decompression. Pax posted photos of oxygen masks dropped. It was A330.

fine photo indeed. it's been so hot past 2 days... nice weather for planespotting though.

We shall see whether AK will continue to deploy A333 during peak seasons in the future for domestic routes. Alif posted a link about possible increase in traffic for BKI next year... time will tell.

Wishing everyone here happy holiday, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2016.

MasWing's ATR76 9M-MYB has carried out a test flight and just landed back at BKI. Of the 4 ATR76s in MasWings MYB has been the one missing in action for quite a period of time. When it is back in service all 4 ATR76 will increase ADS-B traffic a bit for Sabah & Sarawak.

B772 9M-MRL callsign MAS8617 taxing to runway 02 at BKI now. Not long to long for all the B772s to be retired so we wont see them anymore soon I think here at BKI.

Prior, it arrived from Sapporo (CTS) as MH8505. Most probably bringing travellers from northern Japan. Maybe another round of 777 back to CTS before finally retired?
