Yes, there is a change in plane type end of May and early June for some flights regionally and domestically. See this post here : http://www.malaysianwings.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=18291&p=354856

On another matter, a Bell Ranger 206 helicopter crashed near intersection Juliet aroundt 0350Z at WBKK. Pilot believed to be a female trainee is safe but unsure of POB, but from liveatc recording it seems everyone who is in the chopper is safe. Thank God for that.

From:
http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/malaysia/article/kota-kinabalu-helicopter-lands-on-its-side-engine-catches-fire

"The Hornbill helicopter belonged to Layang-Layang Aerospace Sdn Bhd, he said. – Bernama, May 28, 2015."

Is this another example of our local journos spewing out what first comes to mind without even a second thought ?! :)

According to http://www.themalaymailonline.com/malaysia/article/helicopter-crash-lands-at-kota-kinabalu-international-airport

it was "9M-LMM" a Bell 206B JetRanger but should be 9M-LLM.

Airfast Indonesia MD83 PK-OCS approaching to WBKK now heading to final approach of runway 02.

On another matter, POB for this morning's B777 trip to KL was 280, so load is good. No idea about the load to WBKK though.

^^^ It took-off at runway 20 too. We became the centre of attention to everyone (drivers on highway, Sabah Air staffs, spotters at Jln. Selangor - I wondered if any MWingers were there during take-off)) :D

I thought I would just post it here since generally it's a spotting activity.

Originally there was supposed to be a grand celebration of Kaamatan Festivity in the town of Ranau today, 7 June and our DPM was to be here to officiate it. Unfortunately tragedy struck on the morning of 5 June when a Magnitude 5.9 earth quake rocked the small town and it's famous tourist site nearby, the Mt. Kinabalu National Park. The original plan was scrap but the DPM still managed time to visit the site, albeit in a different mood and arrangement.

The DPM arriving around 10.20am in the rather new 9M-NAB.

After a short updates at the VIP lounge at T2, the DPM and his entourage left for Ranau in 3 helicopters - 9M-BKK, 9M-MOH, 9M-YHM, 9M-AWC was also airborne before the three copters did but not sure what role it played. There was 1 EC725 at the terminal too. Time was 10.40am.

11239688_10153689572841091_8835578896721

Knowing from earlier NOTAM information that the VIP movement at T2 was supposedly until 4-5pm, I took a gamble and managed to spot NAB being pushed back at 4.30pm.

11390159_10153689603396091_8868343904230

At the same time spotted 2 RSAF C-130 at terminal 1. It was a mix feeling to see them there with the rear cargo door open. Some of the victims of the earth quake were school children on an adventure trip to Mt. Kinabalu.

At about 5pm, the EC725 came back and landed briefly at the AFRS building to offload some of the remains brought back from Mt. Kinabalu. My heart sank and I had difficulty pressing the shutter button.

Normally this would have been a great day for spotting, but not today. Definitely not today.

Thanks for sharing Waiping. Who would have though an earthquake would have struck an unlikely country. Hope the victims rest in peace

Very sad past few days for us... Hope all victims rest in peace and their family stay strong. Very heartache for those young Singaporeans school children who lost their lives along with the teachers and guides. And of course 6 of our own Malaysians and the mountain guides.
