Singapore probably has up to 40 F-15SGs

Recommended Posts

Evidence that Singapore has far more than the officially claimed 24 Boeing F-15SG fighter aircraft has emerged, although the precise number of airframes has yet to be ascertained.

The FAA registry shows that eight Boeing F-15SG aircraft were registered to Boeing on 6 August 2014. The aircraft bear registrations N361SG, N363SG, N366SG, N368SG,N373SG, N376SG, N378SG, and N837SG.

At the recent Pitch Black exercises in Australia, defence observers noted that some F-15SGs showed signs that registration numbers had been painted or taped over, possibly a tactic to obfuscate the true size of the fleet.

Yes definitely the RSAF and S'pore govt do not disclose the actual numbers but 40 F-15Gs maybe a tad too many although would not be surprised if indeed its 40 as S'pore can very well afford it. And do note that S'pore has at least 8 F15s and F16s in the US for their pilots training - as well as Apaches helicopters.

Note also teh RSAF has also ordered 4 A330s tankers to replace their KC135s.

It is an open secret, sg gomen is under reporting their arsenal; as long as they don't admit publicly, regional arms race could be avoided.

We could have at least posses half of their firepower, heck, even just a quarter to have any chance to quell any external agression threat but the way out defense assets were procured left much to be desired..

Being a small nation with a limited number of military personnel, Singapore needs to leverage on its hardware. I think the whole point of their defence assets is to deter aggression and bullying from its much larger neighbours.

So if anyone has any ideas about attacking Singapore, they will have to think twice. They may get more than just a bloody nose if they do... ;)

Why they need a lot of jets? oO

BTW Do Singapore still need Johor for water supply?

In public, they do but not actually. As cost of desalination seawater is much higher than fresh water filtration. Hence, it is desirable to obtain water from johor.

If Malaysia buy an additional 18 Su-30MKM plus AEW&C platform, EXPECT Singapore to increase their F15SG fleet to 60 plus 30 F-35

A reason why they don't admit as try not to have regional arms race.

Of course having the state-of-the-art equipment is great, but you need able personnel to handle them. I wonder what kind of training our boys get, locally or abroad.

If I am a small but rich country, surrounded by "unstable" neighbors I would look elsewhere for a strategic military partnership.

believed that even if RMAF buys another 18 Russian planes, Singapore will not be too worried - as its not the number of planes but how it is maintained and the operational readiness - as was even reported sometime back half of the Russian planes remains unserviceable due to lack of spares and maintenance issues and lack of understanding of how to repair the fighters.

Even it seems RMAF radar is still questionable as the MH370 incident have shown.

The MiGs have the lack of spares issue, not the Su30s. Part of the reason why the MiGs are on their way out.
