MH Crew Led the Malaysian Contingent at Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games

Recommended Posts

According to KJ the uniforms are worn by the athletes. No wonder the coats look oversized. Still a surreal moment seing our flag at half mast & MH uniforms lead the contingent.

It was a nice gesture. Could be a PR nightmare but a good gesture nonetheless. Might give a little morale boost to our athletes and MAS crews themselves.

It was all good until a certain athlete decided to wear gloves bearing some statement and got admonished, albeit with good intentions, it still went against the sporting spirit. I'd say that kinda negated the uniform display at the opening a little bit.

For certain he has limited his sponsorship.

I don't care if it will get some attention to increase the awareness of the ordeal. It happened in the past and certainly people will remember the athletes for the courage. Most of the athletes are aware of the repercussion. For example, Cathy Freeman waving both Aboriginal and Australian flags during 1994 Commonwealth Games. Until today, people remember it and champion her for it.

It should be the cabin crew that made the news but we blew it out of proportion.

Malaysian politician and religious leaders: It is disrespectful to use the Scottish Terrier to lead the contingent in the opening ceremony because we are a Muslim country.

The Scottish in general: It is disrespectful for Malaysia to say such a thing to our national heritage, culture and most beloved animal. The breed is called Scottish Terrier and you are in Scotland.

Muslims in Scotland: Is it an issue?

Bangladesh & Pakistan: We have more Muslims than any of Malaysia combined but we have no issues.

Alas, it is all about freedom of speech and how tolerant we are towards each other.

Personally I don't think it is an issue at all because we do have dogs living in Malaysia.

This is a result of mixing religion with politic.

I am sure the organizing committee has checked and rechecked for any clashes in culture when they plan for the event. And all the respected sources has confirmed that it is of no issues.

Only in Malaysia you pay pistachios instead of ordinary peanuts and get monkeys. Spewing bullsh1t like that is like having some foreign dude spitting nasi lemak on your face saying it's sh1tty cr@p.

It's free speech.. It was personal opinion of Mat Sabu and Ibrahim Ali..They are also entitled to speak their mind..

For me it's not an issue.. Though they do have a point, just like we don't serve beef to Hindus and whales to Australians..

I concur. Not many people look it that way. Malaysians are Malaysians, regardless of their beliefs and political views. They like to make a mountain out of a molehill.

While we may respect their rights to free speech, the very same people will not respect ours. If you say something that they do not agree with, you can bet your bottom dollar that they will be the first to jump on you!
