Cire 0 Report post Posted July 18, 2014 Sickening to read that there are some who suggested MH17 took a shorter route to save fuel, therefore inevidently encroached into the war zone area. Eurocontrol is quick to say that they warned airliners to be caution on that area, but did not explicityly advise against going through that route. Any news from our local front pertaining to whether our manpower are at site already or they are still sorting out poltical matters before they could go to the site for recovery etc? Mohd Azizul Ramli 2 Report post Posted July 18, 2014 If it's true that Russian separatist is to blame (and considering that the equipment was supplied by Russia), are we severing relations with Russia or at least closing down our embassy for a period of time? I think we should be doing something. Something very stern in nature against Russia. We are innocent, angry and mourning. But knowing the folks who run the country, it will be business as usual. Agree that if the blackbox is in Moscow, we might not get the whole truth. Rather weird that Putin is the very first one who sent his condolence to Najib, the black box was found almost immediately and express delivered to Moscow. Shocked seeing the video posted by Suzanne. I browse through a lot of videos yesterday, but this one just confirms it. Malaysia should take this matter fast to the UN level court of justice that handles such matter. Mohd Suhaimi Fariz 2 Report post Posted July 18, 2014 Not trying to push the ball to the Dutch but can they assist by bringing this matter to EU or NATO? Would that help? The UN Special Council is going to meet to discuss this. Expect the US to be the most vociferous.
Cheng Long 0 Report post Posted July 18, 2014 It makes your blood boils when journalists in their best attempt want to make Malaysia Airlines look bad.. Very sensational and lopsided reporting. Airlines, including Qantas, quit flying over Ukraine airspace months ago MALAYSIA Airlines flight MH17, which was shot down over rebel-held eastern Ukraine, was flying through airspace that a number of other Asian carriers abandoned months ago due to security concerns. http://www.news.com.au/travel/travel-updates/airlines-including-qantas-quit-flying-over-ukraine-airspace-months-ago/story-fnizu68q-1226993758257

V Wong 0 Report post Posted July 18, 2014 (edited) Vivid images of first trip in ex-Heliconia (to EWR) 10years ago keep replaying in a loop... Everything came surging back with such clarity, I cannot imagine how the affected family members feel now. Just found out that a colleague's husband was in MH17 too. Devastating, heart wrenching.. words alone cannot describe. Stay strong! Edited July 18, 2014 by V Wong
Newitt 0 Report post Posted July 18, 2014 That video is horrifying. Airplane appears to be in a steady uncontrollable dive. Can't imagine what it's like in the cabin, pilots struggling to regain control. This is mass murder. Malaysia should probably review diplomatic ties with Russia if it's true the separatists are backed by them. All those angkasawan program, goes out the window now, just my sentiments. Cire 0 Report post Posted July 18, 2014 What we want now is accountability. We want justice. We want our Government to be stern in all actions to be taken now and in coming days or months. A mere shake of the hand would not do justice to the perished. We want whatever salvageable from the site to be returned to Malaysia. As for MAS, it is a good time to have a complete overhaul of the operations and fleet, which includes a color change. It will be hard for MAS to recover from this and it may take months if not years to build back the confidence of the passengers eventhough clearly this episode has nothing to do with MAS' being competence or not. Folks are begining to think MAS is jinxed. A revamp will do a lot of good to the airline and its staffs. Will MAS do it?

Johan Z 0 Report post Posted July 18, 2014 They codeshare with KLM. KL-MH is probably the most successful codesharing agreement in MH route network. Some overbooked passengers can be offloaded and travelled with KL instead.

Malaysia will need to be stern and look after the interest of their people and now kowtowing to Russia in exchange for sweet deals. MAS 777 needs a revamp and new colours. Air NZ ditched the DC-10 completely when they had the Erebus accident years ago. I think MAS 777 will probably have to leave the fleet as two hull lost of the same type won't do the airline any good in terms of image. Regardless whether it was their fault or not.
