Hishammuddin now says military told to keep an eye on MH370

The saga of the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 took a new turn yesterday following latest revelations that the Malaysian military had been told to keep an eye on the plane but had allowed it to disappear off their radar after considering it as non-hostile.

As for assuming the aircraft radar blip was friendly and thus no need to send a fighter to investigate, (not to shoot it down), This.

To assume is the mother of all f#ck ups. Schwartzkopf, General, 1934-2012.

You can run but you can't hide. The Malaysian authorities are consistently being backed into a corner for not be thorough and open in its public reports.

Can't help but think that Dr.M's speculative suggestion of MH370 have not crashed but instead was somewhere else under another identification do have some possibility.

and if indeed he knows about this and asked the military to keep an eye on it - then why waste 4 days searching the south china sea off vietnam forthe plane's debris????

The saga of the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 took a new turn yesterday following latest revelations that the Malaysian military had been told to keep an eye on the plane but had allowed it to disappear off their radar after considering it as non-hostile.

The new revelation was made by acting Transport Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein during an interview with the Australian Broadcasting Corp's Four Corners programme.

This was the first time that Malaysia had said that civil aviation authorities told the military to keep an eye on the aircraft – a fact which was not mentioned in the five-page preliminary report on the plane's disappearance released by the Ministry of Transport on May 1.

The much-criticised preliminary report had made no mention of the instructions from the civil aviation authorities to the military to monitor the plane........."

The area where acoustic signals thought linked to the missing Malaysian plane were detected can now be ruled out as the final resting place of flight MH370, Australian officials say.

The Bluefin-21 submersible robot had finished its search of the area and found nothing, they said.

Efforts would now focus on reviewing search data, surveying the sea floor and bringing in specialist equipment.

Flight MH370 went missing on 8 March as it flew from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.

Using satellite data, officials have concluded that the airliner, which had 239 people on board, ended its journey in the Indian Ocean, north-west of the Australian city of Perth.

No trace of the plane has been found and there is no explanation for its disappearance.

'Discounted'

Four pings that officials believed could be from the missing plane's "black box" flight recorders were heard by search teams using a towed pinger locator device.

These pings were used to define the area for the sea-floor search, conducted by the Bluefin-21. It had scoured
over 850 sq km of the ocean floor, JACC said.

It seems inconceivable to release something that is irrelevant so quickly. Another field day for conspiracy theorists.

well perhaps EK's CEO didn't see what the Acting transport minister said as the military radar deemed that plane was "non hostile" and further he added that to the effect that what for if the air force sent the sukhois to intercept the plane as it does not want to shoot down the plane. There you have it. But such explanation is simply.....don't know what to say coming from a minister.

I would have answered Tim Clark by saying:

"Unfortunately our radar screens were cluttered by traffic that night, most of which were from your fleet. As such, your insistence on buying planes that are surplus to actual need hindered our performance by making it incredibly difficult for us to ascertain & identify all aircraft flying above our airspace. May I suggest that you curb your aircraft purchases so that should there be a repeat occurrence (not that we expect it, but you never know), we would not have such difficulties in identifying the aircraft in question. We don't want to be shooting down your plane in error, right?"

I'd imagine Tim Clark will probably reply by saying:

"If it is incredibly difficult for you to ascertain & identify all aircraft flying over your airspace, I suggest you acquire new and updated airspace monitoring equipment and / or re-train your team of people that are monitoring your airspace. We are going to grow our fleet, whether you like it or not. And by even merely mentioning the possibility of difficulties in identifying any aircraft in question, and most certainly shooting down any plane in error, further proves the competency level of this team of people and their management is now in serious question."

Emirates chief casts doubt on MH370 investigations

| 11:43AM Jun 5, 2014

MH370 The biggest user of the Boeing 777, Emirates Airlines, has urged Malaysia to come clean on MH370, citing that it takes an expert to seize control of the huge passenger aircraft.

According to Aviation Weekly, Emirates Airline president Tim Clark said the theory that the plane made a turnaround flying past Malaysia undetected by radar was unbelievable and added to that, the far-fetched notion that somebody on board could have made the plane completely untraceable.

This aircraft was disabled in three primary systems. To be able to disable those requires a knowledge of the system which even our pilots in Emirates dont know how to do. Somebody got on board and knew exactly what they were up to, Clark was quoted in an interview by Aviation Weeklys Jens Flottau.

Something is not right here and we need to get to the bottom of it.

Speaking after an on the sidelines of the International Air Transport Associations (IATA) annual general assembly in Doha, Clark said that he also could not fathom where the industrys flight tracking initiatives lacked.

To Clark, tracking is not the main issue, the news portal reported.

We have never lost an aeroplane in 50 years, we have always known where they are. Whoever was clever enough to interdict the system, will be able to interdict this one as well, Clark said.

The first thing you need to do is do not allow anybody on board to disable ACARS - job done, he added.

What's wrong with having a second party taking an objective look?

There were instances whereby additional investigation actually enhances the findings of the official investigation, most notably the United 811 incident where a victim's father managed to conclusively prove that there is an inherent flaw in the 747 cargo door - something that the NTSB had not anticipated.

A British woman claims she may have seen the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 on fire during a sailing holiday back in March.

Katherine Tee was traveling across the Indian Ocean with husband Marc Horn when she saw what she believed was a plane on fire crossing the night sky, trailing a plume of black smoke behind it.

She told the Phuket Gazette: “I was on night watch. My husband was asleep below deck and our one other crew member was asleep on deck.......
