Now RMAF say it did scrambled its fighter planes to intercept MH370?? and this is now being released after 33 days?? And when RMAF radar detected the supposedly turn back - it didnt say so or inform the govt only after 5 days and wasting the precious 5 days searching the waters off vietnam! And believed the govt did acknowledged and even say the RMAF did not scramble any of its jets bec it was seen as "not hostile" Seriously if indeed such conflicting news now stands then like the international media have been saying all along that Malaysia's credibity is at stake.

Then again this is from un named senior gov officials reported by cnn. Hmmm dont trust 100% these news. If its true pls publish the name of the gov official

If the gov official is not authorized to speak, cnn is duty bound to protect him else he may be charged under osa.

 

Given track record, news organization like cnn is more worthy than our politicians.

Weird choice of word and tonation for a BBC interview. It is as if the cost is so peanut in monetary terms that Malaysia has no problem whatsoever to absorb all the cost.

 

The British public would ask, what peanut has to do with the crash? Wasn't it mangosteen?

Pressure? None of those are related to the missing jet. I hope those countries named wouldn't mind being drag into this mess.

Well but think now this is the way malaysian govt is releasing such info byusing itsofficials to "leaked" to the media - just like few days ago the govt did with the release of the news that MH370 deliberately skirted around indon air space to avoid detection - and when a reported asked Hisham at the press conference, he just say yes on the information.

Laughable considering how even Americans have lost their trust of CNN.

CNN is not much different from the Malaysian mainstream media - as far as politicians are concerned. They use them as scapegoats when reports are not to their liking. Just read widely, not just CNN alone. Sooner or later, you will find some common denominator.

 

One thing that foreign media does a lot better that local media is the graphics and explanations of the various devices, planes, ships, etc. They also provide better maps of the search areas.

True or not about the jets being scrambled, the issues of not wanting to be named is bcos Malaysia don't tolerate freedom of speech. Just for the example of the air force major who voiced his concerns about the indelible ink. He is facing court hearings.

 

 

Now, whatever spoken in the PC, people will recall them, and try to piece them together and it will not ties up all the events that were officially said. The stories will not tie if it s made up. It will not make common sense. Like why the military did not disclose about the commercial flight heading towards the South Indian ocean while the whole world is concentrated at the South China seas?

It could be the media "fishing" for some news by creating one, and let the concerned replied in which hopefully due to some carelessness, some clues are leaked out .

 

 

 

Nevertheless, there's a huge question mark bearing down as to whether there is communication between the ATC and the Airforce during when MH370 was making a detour back into Malaysia ?And what took place then when MH370 did not land any where in Malaysia but instead is heading out towards the South Indian ocean with no pre-flight plan. ?

 

Now, if the the airforce did notice it on their radar ( {clue} since its not hostile, no jets were scrambled..), did they actually tracked it further after they first become aware of it (blip)? What's the protocol here for the operator? Identified as Commercial AC making turn-back {how do they know its a commercial flight?} , categorized as non-hostile, therefore strike off alert, and follow-up not needed?

 

Next, if there's no communication between ATC and the A.Force, how do they know that the blip belonged to a commercial airline since its transponders is off? Assumed that they did not know it's a commercial plane, won' t the guardian of our skies be jittery on the situation and made some counter-checks with the ATC? To have assumed that the A.Force did nothing about the blip across their radar scope would be too incomprehensible by any set of protocols where guarding and maintaning Air soreignity is concerned.

 

 

And the million Ringgit question is, why is the A.Force sitting on the potential answer when the whole world spent 5 crucial days sweeping the South China seas for this commercial flight?

Because no one bother to ask them? But the Chief of A.Force is at the PC. Why didn't he bring this out when prompted (surely) ?

 

 

Its not to discredit any parties here, but it is of utmost important for the relevent authorities, and as well as to the Airlines, crews and passengers to know that there are protocols there for the authority to follow and that their flights are being monitored safely.

08 March 2014

  • 0041 MH370 took off from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport with 227 passengers and 12 crew members bound for Beijing with an endurance of approximately eight hours.
  • 0107 the Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS) made its last transmission on the aircrafts performance. All systems were running as per normal. Next transmission was due at 0137 hours.
  • 0119 a person believed to be the co-pilot acknowledged the handing over of the MH370 from Malaysias Flight Information Region (FIR) to Vietnams FIR. His last words were, Alright, goodnight.
  • 0121 the secondary radar at Subangs Air Traffic Control centre lost contact with the MH370 over waypoint IGARI at 06.5515N 103.3443E, after a deliberate act of turning off the transponder as well as other communications equipment. The aircraft was then at 35,000 feet above sea level. However, the aircraft continues to be tracked by the Royal Malaysian Air Forces (RMAF) primary radar and had its flight path towards waypoint VAMPI monitored and recorded by RMAFs Air Defence Centres.
  • 0215 RMAFs primary radar consistently monitored the path of the MH370 from waypoints VAMPI, GIVAL before finally losing track of it after waypoint IGREX while flying at 29,500 feet above sea level.

As a Contracting State to the ICAO Convention of 1944, Malaysia assumed the role of the Rescue Coordination Centre under Annex 12 of the Convention for the MH370 Search and Rescue efforts because the MH370 had yet to enter Vietnamese FIR control (its radar had not detected the MH370 yet when she changed her flight path). Based on sightings of debris, the Search and Rescue efforts concentrated at its last known position near waypoint IGARI.

  • 0630 MH370 was to have arrived in Beijing.
  • 0811 the last handshake between the MH370′s navigation system and an INMARSAT satellite was made.
  • 1017 Rear Admiral Ngo Van Phat of the Vietnamese Navy announced that the MH370 may have crashed about 153 nautical miles (300km) from Tho Chu island, near Ca Mau. This statement was carried by Tuoi Tre News and was subsequently picked up and released by Reuters at 1302 hours, sending SAR assets into the area.
  • 1730 based on the flight path monitored by the RMAF, the SAR effort was also expanded into the Strait of Malacca.

  • - search around Tho Chu island failed to yield anything.
  • - the SAR efforts were expanded into the Andaman Sea. The RMAFs sensitive radar data recordings have been shared with the SAR authorities.

10 March 2014

  • 1343 Vietnamese news agency Tuoi Tre reported that a passing aircraft from Singapore spotted an orange object possibly a liferaft or a lifejacket 177km northwest of Tho Chu island. SAR assets deployed later identified this object as a cable wrap.

11 March 2014

  • The Malaysian Chief of Air Force issued a press statement refuting a report by the Malaysian daily Berita Harian that quoted him as supposedly saying the aircraft had flown towards Pulau Perak.

12 March 2014

  • The official website of the State Administration of Science, Technology, and Industry for National Defence of China (SASTIND) showed pictures of three objects spotted in the South China Sea believed to be related to the MH370. These photos were then shown to the public by the China Central Television (CCTV), Xinhua News Agency, CNN, BBC and also by other foreign news agencies. According to SASTIND, these images were taken at latitude 6.7N 105.65E at 11.00am on 9th March 2014.
  • Hence, SAR assets were again sent to verify the findings which we now know were false sightings, but not before more time and concentration of vital resources have been wasted.

14 March 2014

15 March 2014

  • The Malaysian Prime Minister announced that the object tracked by the RMAFs primary radar was indeed the MH370. This conclusion was made based on processed data acquired from INMARSAT and concurred by the FAA, NSTB, AAIB and the Malaysian authorities.

20 March 2014

  • The Australian Prime Minister announced satellite images showing large debris in the southern Indian Ocean. The image was taken four days earlier.

22 March 2014

  • The Chinese government announced that its satellite had found debris in the southern Indian Ocean. That image too was taken four days prior to the announcement.

24 March 2014

  • The Prime Minister of Malaysia announced that based on triangulation of handshakes between the MH370 and satellites, the flight ended in the southern Indian Ocean.

THERE are unconfirmed reports that the black box flight recorder from missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 has been found.
Perth radio station 6PR tweeted the report citing aviation expert Geoffrey Thomas.

Prime Minister Tony Abbott has announced that he will update the media on developments at 2pm AEST.

MH370 mangosteens not from Muar, clarifies IGP

The police have clarified that the crates of mangoesteens on MH370 did not all come from Muar orchards but were just packed in the Johor town.

 

This followed assertions by Federal Agricultural Martketing Council (Fama) that mangoesteens were not in season in Johor when MH370 disappeared last month.

 

"I did not say they were from Muar, just that the suppliers were from Muar and that we will investigate to the extent (of who plucked the fruits).

 

"They were collated in Muar... before they were sent to KLIA (to be loaded onto MH370)," said inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar at a press conference.

On 8th March, they knew for sure that the last confirmed fix of MH370 was at IGARI, over the South China Sea. It made sense to immediately deploy massive search operations to that area.

 

At the same time, the RMAF, having immediately done a radar playback, had a suspicion that MH370 may actually have turned west towards the Straits of Malacca. They needed time to confirm this.

 

But to completely ignore the Straits of Malacca until the results came in would have been silly. So naturally, they would also deploy a few assets initially to scan the Straits of Malacca. And they did just that, if you recall. So, how is that an issue?

 

And put it this way, if something did crash into the world's busiest shipping lane (and a damn narrow one), you don't need 100 ships and aircraft to go looking for it. Of course as fresh information trickled in from Inmarsat, focus then shifted further out towards the Andaman, Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean.

 

By that time, they were 100% sure it wasn't in the South China Sea or the Straits of Malacca.

 

In summary, they covered all grounds with whatever information they had at different stages.

 

They did the right thing.

 

Amazing how one can dig up old news, twist it around, and turn it into a revelation.

 

As to the "revelation" that the aircraft skirted Indonesian airspace. Duh. So? From the Inmarsat arcs a few weeks back, that was pretty obvious, wasn't it? How is that news, CNN?

 

As to transparency. Can one really believe that so many countries would deploy a vast array of their most sophisticated equipment if the Malaysian authorities weren't transparent? There are pre-assumptions about how badly run the Malaysian government is, and for the most part rightly so. But to use those presumptions as justification for making simple conclusions in a highly complex matter such as MH370 is naïve.

 

There was a big gorilla in the room banging the table asking for answers, pushing a far weaker kind to quickly find the aeroplane. Funny how the gorilla, with the world's largest military, has turned into a gentle panda in recent weeks. Time to eat humble pie, or bamboo in this case. Not so easy finding a missing airplane huh, China?

Seriously though, politicians should be more careful and not follow Malaysian politicians' footsteps. Doing so is fraught with danger.

 

I suppose Abbott is trying to show off, since he is in China.

Quoting a “senior Malaysian government official and another source involved in the investigation”, CNN states “Malaysian air force search aircraft were scrambled around 8am, soon after Malaysia Airlines (MAS) reported that its plane was missing early March 8.”

 

Some serious reporting error here. At 8am they should scramble eggs, not jets.
