Sick of all this news quoted from a "trusted government official" , "a high ranking gov officer" or a source "not authorized to make a statement" coming from unethical medias.

And whats worse is malaysians thinking its an official statement and when an explanation like this is out, ends up saying the authorities give contradicting statements. This unethical reporting needs stop..seriously...and malaysians need to check their sources properly.

The government did give contradicting statements from time to time. The most recent one is probably about all passengers have been cleared as suspect, but Hisham said otherwise two days later.

And not all "tip-offs" are bogus. WSJ did get its "leak" correct.

Sometimes, they have no choice as the govt. refuse to answer their questions. So best to publish it and let the govt. come out to confirm or deny the situation.

People should know that there is a lot of speculation. Let some time pass, and the truth will come up. Don't take everything said, whether from official or unofficial sources, as the absolute truth.

Agreed. And as Malaysian, knowing how our Gov used to play around with words and not enirely telling it as it is, we can't help it if we are a bit skeptical of what was officially mentioned and whats not ourthere. When the true or facts are lacking, we take whatever comes our way and up to us whether to believe it or not. Of course logic does prevail.

Fully agreed there. It takes a long long time to build up the confidence and trust between the government and the citizens.

For the record, the BN govt have not been honest with a lot of things and quite often things were done hush-hush fashion or without explanation. Can we really blame people not trusting them?

Someone from the party will say "If you're not happy you can always leave the country".

Well many have already left (incl. myself and return to China as they wish).

By the way, I just saw Hishamuddin's speech. He basically repeated the exact same text of what Angus Houston, the Senior Officer of RAAF, had said in his Press Conference. What's the point of this? Couldn't he come up with his own text?

lets hope hard that this is the final straw that the pingers belonged to the downed MH plane and that the batteries still "hope against hope" like what Hisham like to say that it lasts at least a week or two more. This is because as most would know that a couple of weeks back, when MH finally checked through their blackboxes n batteries - that they were Not kept in a cool and dry place - but in a rather warm n hot place and that the last time they checked was in 2012 although they should have been checked yearly or more! And the blackboxes batteries on MH370 was due to be changed in June. Without keeping these batteries as recommended by the manufacturer will decrease its life shelf due to the heat. And the other thing is for MH and hope they are also stepping up their maintenance and do a technical audit on all their maintenance and storage and accountability of their parts and spares - and not wait till after this long investigation. Last week I arrived at KLIA and saw a MH 777 at the remote bay with a very dirty tail section - and even cleaniness is still not maintained!

How do you know this? Was it reported in the press?

2012 was the year that the black boxes were supposed to be returned to the Original Equipment Manufacturer for maintenance. Just because it was not done, does not mean the black boxes were not properly maintained. Maybe it was done in-house or outsourced to another company. MH's CEO confirmed that it has a maintenance programme for the black boxes. Are you saying he's not telling the truth?

Plane at remote bay with dirty tail may indicate an end to service life. Maybe that's why they don't bother washing them.

A diver being towed along a fast respond boat...tough. This is surely all out effort to locate MH370.

And now, the latest report that non of the surface vessels have detected any pings from the blackbox. It is feared that the battery have finally died off.

Well the social media is certainly the double-edge sword here, sometimes they are true but sometimes they aren't. "An official who do not wish to be named" can be anyone or no one at all. They can just make it up.

A bit of irony that they can ban/revoke/boycott some local news portal 'in order not to confuse readers', but can do absolutely nothing against the CNN.

The MH plane with the dirty fuselage at the tail end parked at the remote bay is not near its service life - but its more that Mh maintenance and in this case maintaining the plane's cleanliness is just not there. On the "official who do not wished to be named" and what he said is true - as during yesterday's press conference Hisham when asked by a foreign reported acknowledged that the info is true ie the plane skirted around indonesia. Itlooks like the govt actually "released" this news through such "way" and not through during a press conference for some reason only known to the govt. But again the western media are questioning why the malaysian govt is releasing this info only now after 30 days?

Exactly. The negative side of social media. But then the users themselves decides if baseless news makes it around and this is what disappoints me as a malaysian. The authorities screwed up but the people seem to screw up more.

On CNN, its like you can always ask your own son to behave or ground them but you sure cant do nothing about the neighbours son. Sad reality.

I might be wrong but i posted an article where hishamuddin denied that the plane skirted indonesian radars. Im not sure where the info came from besides cnn

MIR, are there any signs that air activity is reducing, now that the "pinger" can be heard?

Flee, it seems to be increasing from previous days. More aircraft have arrived to join the search, operating from Perth, Pearce and Learmonth. The Joint Agency Coordination Centre announced 14 aircraft are involved in today's search.

Here is a link containing the list and photos of aircraft related to the search in Western Australia by Aviation Association of WA (AAWA) :

The MH plane with the dirty fuselage at the tail end parked at the remote bay is not near its service life - but its more that Mh maintenance and in this case maintaining the plane's cleanliness is just not there.

While a clean plane does provide some fuel consumption relief due to better aerodynamics, it's not going to be easy trying to fit a thorough cleaning cycle with the plane having to maintain a high utilization rate. Besides, the APU is at the tail and producing exhaust so the smudge will be there even if you wipe it off every day.

External cleanliness is not an example of maintenance care - you can have a well maintained but dirty plane. Air France is well known for not having a clean exterior while American Airlines planes in their old bare metal livery are rarely polished. Do they skimp on maintenance? Of course not!

I've just been informed, out of 14 aircraft initially planned for today's search, only 12 managed to make it. Our two C-130H were unable to join the search today.

May not have been a bad idea to drop by for a few days just to do some rare subject spotting in PER. :good:

Since you said that this was widely reported in the press (that the black boxes and batteries were not kept in a cool and dry place), please provide the source.

And you have not answered my question regarding the maintenance of the black boxes.
