Recommended Posts

Not the first time we get optimistic news only to be disappointed later.

Pray for the best but will keep my hopes down for now. It will still be an intriguing mystery how all these happened.

Just to share several search planes involved in the search operation. These photos were photographed yesterday.

Gulfstream G650 ZK-KFB serving as a communications relay aircraft taxying in at 1740. Usually flies more than 10 hours in duration for this search mission.

There was also a civilian GLEX and G-550 assisting the search yesterday. The Japanese Coast Guard Gulfstream U-4 has returned back to Japan on 3rd April.

All Gulfstream G650 have that same bottom fuselage profile compared to the G450 & G550 which has a more circular cross section.

From : Flightglobal

Gulftream started out by splitting the G550 cabin down the middle and adding a lateral “stretch”, as it has done with the G150, “but that was quickly tossed”, he says. In the final design, the bottom of the fuselage is flattened to remove wetted area and reduce drag.

Positions of the radar and comms equipment in the G650:

Another RMAF C-130, M30-09 will arrive Australia today to join the search.

Is this NZ registered bird (ZK-) belonged to the Lord of the Rings Movie Director, Peter Jackson?

The media reported it belonged to Peter Jackson, but I can't verify that. Perhaps linked to the director, sort of.

It is registered to ExecuJet New Zealand Limited in the CAA NZ registry.

A UK ship with sophisticated detection equipment, HMS Echo, has arrived in an area where a Chinese vessel searching for the missing Malaysian plane has twice detected a pulse signal.

Australian ship Ocean Shield is first investigating a possible third signal elsewhere in the massive search zone.

None has been confirmed as coming from the flight recorders of MH370.

Meanwhile families of the missing passengers have attended a prayer service in Kuala Lumpur.

Could this be the start of the closure for MH370?

Though rare, it's possible that the aircraft ditched intact e.g. US Airways 1549.

If this is the case, there will be miniimum debris on the suface, and as the AC descended to the bottom of the ocean, any loose debris would have been scattered and floated quite far away before it breaches the surface.

and strange is why only yesterday that a govt-source was quoted as saying that MH 370 skirted and avoided Indonesian radar - and 30 days late??? when the Chinese ship heard the pings. Why did it takes the govt official to release this info only yesterday - a month after the plane disappeared; and whats the point now - as it will only lead to many questioning the govt on this. If they had known then there would not be wasted time searching off Vietnam coast and the Andaman sea which wasted more than a week's search.

I don't think anybody would find any debris on the surface now. Plane crashed 30 days ago. Assuming sea currents move at leisurely 3km/h (like walking), in a day easily can do 80km. In 30 days, you are looking at 2,500-3,000km -- so the debris could be anywhere. If debris got into the South Equatorial Current, better start searching east coast of Africa in another month or so. Otherwise in the area midway between South Africa and Australia.

Wait was the ping heard a month before or only in the past day or two?

Perhaps the announcement on the indonesian radar came late to preserve some face value for the indonesians as well for missing the plane?i dont know if there are any diplomatic unwritten rules here

Just read on how the US failed to intercept the planes during 9/11. Defending an airspace just isnt as straight forward as i thought

The ping was only oicked up last Saturday at noon.

On US failing to intercept the 2 planes that crashed into the twin towers was because of the very short distance when the plane took off from NY airport to the city - whereas here the supposedly MH 370 took 1.10 hrs to fly from the east side to the west of Malaysia - and nothing was done about it - not even interrogating the unidentified plane.

conspiracy...

When the ping was said to have been picked up, both authorities have no more room to deny anymore. So, out of desperations, they have to announced that it skirted the radar detection scope, ahead of any findings that would come from the findings of the black box which would further tarnish their image and credibility..

the most floatable items in the AC is the seats' components which act as a floatation device during a sea ditching. However, if the AC ditches with fuselage intact, that sort of items would not get to surface.

And with cabin pressurization gone, the AC would not implode which would have shoot out contents and humans into the ocean to make finding it easier.

Thought there is going to be an Indian Air Force P-8 Poseidon?

The Indian Navy deployed three P-8I Neptune last month, one to Subang and the other two to INS Utkrosh, Port Blair.

It is reported that the P-8I due to join the search Down Under but that has not happened yet.

Falcon 900, VH-PPD has been operating out of Learmonth, north-west coast of Western Australia, closer to the new search area.

MIR, are there any signs that air activity is reducing, now that the "pinger" can be heard?
