#RememberingMH370: Tribute By F1 Drivers

In a show of solidarity with the grieving families of loved ones onboard Flight MH370, Formula One drivers will have tribute stickers on their helmets this weekend at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC).

Some teams will carry the stickers on their cars and a minute’s silence would be observed ahead of the race, with F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in attendance.

The Caterham F1 team will place the #PRAYFORMH370 stickers on their front nose cones.

Caterham head of communication Tom Webb said it was absolutely necessary to pay tribute to the people struck by the tragedy because of their close links with the aviation industry.

“We are proud to to fly the Malaysian flag on our cars this weekend,” he said. “We also want to retain the thoughts and prayers for everybody who has been touched by this tragedy,” he told.

“Our drivers will have ‘for as long as it is necessary’ stickers placed on their helmets, too,” he said.

He added that the stickers might be kept on until the Bahrain Grand Prix on April 6.

Williams Martini racing team driver Filipe Massa said it was a difficult moment not just for Malaysia, but for the whole world.

“I hope we can use the sport to show a nice thing for the families during this trying times,” he said.

A Ferrari spokesman said the stickers were their way of paying their respects.

“We are deeply saddened that the families who were staying at the Cyberview Hotel had to be moved as we had made the reservations a year in advance,” he said.

SIC chief executive officer Datuk Razlan Razali said the aerial show by Kisakti, planned for the race, had been cancelled.

The Mercedes Petronas F1 team, apparently, would stick a Tribute to MH370 on the side pods of their cars.

The elite racing fraternity are no stranger to racing amid tragedy. They raced in Japan following the deadly 2011 tsunami and the anti-government protests in Bahrain last year.

Just read a couple of articles on the criticism by the Chinese, and it made me sick.

If their complaint is the misleading/contradicting info given by the Malaysian govt then it's fair enough. But to insinuate that Malaysia and its people are solely responsible for the plane's disappearance is just unacceptable. Now their celebrities even blasting their Malaysian counterparts!

I never thought I'd endorse this, but here it goes anyway.

Interpol hits back at Malaysia’s stolen passport database claims

Interpol hit back yesterday at Malaysia's claims that consulting a stolen passport database would have caused too much delays to be useful, after confusion caused by Kuala Lumpur's failure to detect two illegal migrants on the still missing Malaysian Airlines Flight MH370.

Push to take control: Australia to lead the probe into MH370

I wonder why the message was particularly aimed at the Chinese. Is it that they may manipulate any findings to their advantage?

May be they have something of interest in the cargo and they didn't want the Chinese to get their hands on it? That they are competing against each other to get it first?

Or may be the Chinese have something of interest in the cargo and they didn't want the Chinese to get their hands on it so that the Chinese can cover it up?

Endless possibilities.

Hishamuddin said the government did not scrambled the jets because the commercial plane did the turn back in international air. Thus it is perceived as not a threat. He also pick the incident of 9/11 where commercial planes were not seen as a threat by the US, thus ....

He mentioned too that if the jets were scrambled and the commercial plane is shot down, the consequences will be greater.

Question;

1. Why was there no counter-verifications between ATC and the military about this turn back?

2. Since 9/11 shows that we should not take things for granted, why was our air force not put on alert?

3. If MH370 was tracked coming in and out of radar coverage, any one bothered to inform or alert the top brass about this?

Not to say the good folks in ATC and the military are sleeping on the job, but we need to know whether the SOPs set up is adequate enough and is being adhered to strictly. Surely if I were the passengers, I would want the people on land to know where we are and to come to us if we are in trouble.

Fall back to alleged conspiracy about the US remotely piloting the plane, and hijacked it to Diego Garcia.

His excuse is a testament that he is willing to compromise safety and security in the interest of shortening waiting time.

I hope EASA, DHS, CASA etc start sending their surprise audit teams over.

Coming back to the air turn back of MH370, actually I don't think civilian aircraft turning back from somewhere in Terengganu towards Penang is common. You just have to switch on FR24 and see it for yourself.

Folks out there is angered by the poor information given out which resulted in lost days meant for the actual SAR which is now in the South Indian ocean. They are telling the team that due to their incompetencies, and their reluctance to seek help (which gave an impression that they are hiding information), vast resources are put to fruitless SAR operations in the South China seas, which resulted in valuable time lost which could be used to rescue potential survivals as it not been wrongly directed.

at first on the first few days the Vietnamese SAR team reported finding some debris of Ca Mau coast of Vietnam but it was not what it is and then came the Chinese Government Satellite Images which was not what it is, it is this little misinformation's that wasted precious time..but remember our SAR team were already on the ground searching over the Straits of Malacca on the second day of SAR operation..it was only later when the Inmarsat team came out with the 'ping' leads the SAR to the IOR....someone in the cockpit has made it as hard as possible to 'hide' every possible leads to find the plane, so come on lah give them a break..this is not a normal 'air crash investigation'..

Your srtatement seemed to be self contradicting. Blame everything on the Chinese?

The Malaysian govt knew the 777 went towards the Andaman island in the first couple of days and fiercely denied it at the beginning and only cinformed it days later. Not a normal incident, so is 9/11, you don't see the US govt acted in such an unprofessional way.

Nice try. Lame excuses. What exactly is the role of immigration authorities? No wonder Malaysia had.become a great destination for illegal migrants using false documents.

Some of you may wonder why countries like Australia.and NZ would process arrival pax into their border strictly. Some of you may even find them harsh and being racist. They knew very well that Asian immigration and customs are just too relax. So they need to step up their processing effort. Malaysia had once again proven to them that they need not trust them.

From a friend on FB, only KD LEKIU is continuing the journey down south for S&R. The rest RTB due to unfavorable sea condition and concern over safety of the seaman.

Another PROJECT NAIK TARAF coming up!

From a friend on FB, only KD LEKIU is continuing the journey down south for S&R. The rest RTB due to unfavorable sea condition and concern over safety of the seaman.

Someone at the Malaysian Defence website made the following comment:-

I wont be surprised if some people – after seeing this post – start asking elsewhere why the RMN has no oilers and why other RMN ships – apart from the Lekiu class – can’t operate in such rough sea conditions. Never mind that our ships are built to operate in our sea conditions – which never get as rough as the north Pacific or southern Indian Ocean – and that due to geography and our operational area of responsibilities, we have no need for an oiler.

Ya was suspecting our equipment not up to the mark, which is why there was a delay in sending our ships and aircraft to help with SAR. Not calling for the oiler or ice-breaker since money better spent elsewhere, such as better public transport.

MH370 is good for Malaysia. Despite spending big money, much of the equipment procured isn't of the same high specs of those of other countries, e.g. The billions spent on submarines....

Without MH379, some of these facts will remain swept under the carpet...

Strategically, RMN don't need blue water capability. But money spent is blue water equivalent.
