MAB to Re-Introduce the B747-400; 9M-MPP in Retro Livery

Recommended Posts

How many 744 do they still have? I suppose it is easier to find 744 pilots lurking around since they can borrow from MASKargo?

Hows the cabin after all this while? As much as I am happy for the 744 to be flying pax again, I wont be happy if I booked the flight expecting the A388 but instead seeing the 744 at the gate. I hope they tell those pax in advance.

It sounds very much like MH only has five airworthy A380s if they have to reactivate a B744 to ensure that all their scheduled and charter flights can be operated. The sixth A380 may be used as a spare parts supplier to save cashflow....

Any idea which A388 is used as a spare parts donor?

How many 772 still with MH now? Didn't expect 9M-MPB ("Shah Alam" and ex-Hibiscus) to be around at all.

According to airfleets.net, they have 3 stored; 9M-MPN, 9M-MPP and 9M-MPB. 9M-MPL has been parted out for spare parts.

Only 9M-MPP are available for duty. 9M-MPN whereabout is unknown

9M-MPB has long gone to Roswell since her retirement. She was never picked up by any other operator, unlike her sister 9M-MPF who went on to join Air Atlanta Icelandic as TF-AAG for few years before retiring again to Roswell as N774AS

My understanding would be that the one B744 is to be resurrected to operational readiness, in the event one (or more) of the A380s cannot jalan

Surely they cannot be scheduling this oddball into regular service ?!

:)

Yes, I would think that this would be it - the B744 is on standby, should any of the remaining A380s not undergoing maintenance go tech.

From internal source; they will reactivate the B747 as early as April 2016.. Jom pi London

You can still fly inside a 744 with other airlines such as QF, TG and CX...

HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY!!!! CJU-GMP!!!

Awww.... Kenneth, thought you would have to try out KE's 747-8 instead :D

So this is the Gimpo (Kimpo) to Jeju (Cheju) run??

I am hopping on the Kangaroo tailed next month and praying for the VH-OE* series 747-400ER!!! Although they do have a handful of RR powered non-ER 747-400 (VH-OJ*) series!!

Wanted to surprise my dad...he was excited at the sight of the 747! I wonder where KE flies their 748 to...I might just plan a trip!

Yup, there is 1 return flight from GIMPO to JEJU daily...a short 45-50 mins flight. It wasn't full, maybe it has cargo to carry.

Wow, a B744 in the retro livery! This should become a major hit worldwide.

They should have a long term plan for this aircraft for such investment.

or KLM till the end of 2018 (BA as well I've heard)...

btw, thought MAS/MAB phased-out all the 744's ? apparently wrong !!!

I am confused - is this supposed to be a back-up instead of a "let's sub 744 for 380 on slower travel days or sub the 744 for 330 on peak travel days"? Seems like spending money on repainting it to a retro livery (whilst I can imagine it looks great) is just a waste of money.
