kandiah k 0 Report post Posted March 11, 2016 Why don't they just use the B744 for the Haj flights instead of using the A380s ?
Vicknesh PS 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2016 How about using the 772? We do have a few left. Pilots still around?
S V Choong 4 Report post Posted March 12, 2016 How many 744 do they still have? I suppose it is easier to find 744 pilots lurking around since they can borrow from MASKargo?
Mulyadir Fitri 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2016 Hows the cabin after all this while? As much as I am happy for the 744 to be flying pax again, I wont be happy if I booked the flight expecting the A388 but instead seeing the 744 at the gate. I hope they tell those pax in advance. flee 5 Report post Posted March 12, 2016 (edited) It sounds very much like MH only has five airworthy A380s if they have to reactivate a B744 to ensure that all their scheduled and charter flights can be operated. The sixth A380 may be used as a spare parts supplier to save cashflow.... Edited March 12, 2016 by flee

The sixth A380 may be used as a spare parts supplier to save cashflow.... Any idea which A388 is used as a spare parts donor? Â How many 772 still with MH now? Didn't expect 9M-MPB ("Shah Alam" and ex-Hibiscus) to be around at all.
Vicknesh PS 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2016 772 has a 2 class layout. 744 has 3 classes. I think they need 1st class for the LHR route.....unique reasons
JuliusWong 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2016 According to airfleets.net, they have 3 stored; 9M-MPN, 9M-MPP and 9M-MPB. 9M-MPL has been parted out for spare parts. Only 9M-MPP are available for duty. 9M-MPN whereabout is unknown  9M-MPB has long gone to Roswell since her retirement. She was never picked up by any other operator, unlike her sister 9M-MPF who went on to join Air Atlanta Icelandic as TF-AAG for few years before retiring again to Roswell as N774AS
M. Sofian H. 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2016 From internal source; they will reactivate the B747 as early as April 2016.. Jom pi London 😆
BC Tam 2 Report post Posted March 15, 2016 My understanding would be that the one B744 is to be resurrected to operational readiness, in the event one (or more) of the A380s cannot jalan Surely they cannot be scheduling this oddball into regular service ?! Sharil Abdul Rahman 0 Report post Posted March 16, 2016 Are they just going to reactivate it, or refurbish it as well? Â I mean, MAS has excess J-class seats now....

Yes, I would think that this would be it - the B744 is on standby, should any of the remaining A380s not undergoing maintenance go tech.

Mohd Azizul Ramli 2 Report post Posted March 16, 2016 Wow, a B744 in the retro livery! This should become a major hit worldwide. Â They should have a long term plan for this aircraft for such investment.

Craig 0 Report post Posted March 16, 2016 (edited) I am confused - is this supposed to be a back-up instead of a "let's sub 744 for 380 on slower travel days or sub the 744 for 330 on peak travel days"? Seems like spending money on repainting it to a retro livery (whilst I can imagine it looks great) is just a waste of money.
