Hello,

 

on June 29th, the Luftwaffe celebrated the offical farewell of the F-4 Phantom with an Open House at the Fliegerhorst Wittmund in northern Germany.

 

After 40 years in service, the old lady is replaced by the Eurofighter. Over 100.000 people visited the Open House and snaped the chance to see the german Phantom up in the sky for the last time.

 

Special farewell c/s from WTD 61 at Manching, Bavaria

 

Retro c/s Norm 72, used from 1973 until early 80's

 

Another special scheme: Norm 81, introduced in the early 1980's

 

The scheme from 1990's until June 2013: Norm 90J

 

The Pharewell c/s. This Phantom "37+01" was the very first Phantom for the Luftwaffe, delivered in 1973

Ich melde mich ab means literally: "I report for signing off / out".

It´s kind of a message typically used when someone is leaving a place. Can be used also e.g. at work when you tell your boss you are leaving the office for a longer period (e.g. being out for an extended period including vacation)
