MH should order the 333HGW as it would likely be faster delivery instead of the A350 or B789. Looking at MH status and its loads there's no necessity to purchase any higher capacity aircrafts - unless it get can its house clean, and do a turn around and rid itself of yearly losses which will take sometime if its even able to do so. even at thi stage MH is pulling out services like its LAX which means it had even shrunk the international routes and continents that it flies too compared to a decade ago. MH keeps blaming it on high fuel sosts and "old planes" but is it really??

I think it should be a two stage order - A333 242t for delivery in 2015-2017 and A359 for delivery after 2017.

MH needs to urgently replace its ageing B772s because they don't want to refurbish the interiors. With the RM plunging, fuel costs is fast approaching (or even exceeding) 40% of total operating costs. So having fuel efficient aircraft is definitely important.

I really hope MH will order A350 for long haul operations. Looking at the current operators, all of them (except JAL and ANA) opted for 3-3-3 configuration, which reduced the seat width to 17" or less. 787 at 3-3-3 is fine for medium haul, but for 10+ hours that would be uncomfortable.

ANA is moving to 3-3-3 too.

I am just curious would MH announce they intention now, or wait another 12 months during LIMA 2015. This could enhance LIMA's reputation.

LIMA is actually a much older airshow, but it is Singapore Airshow that has the better reputation for business transacted. As for MAS, it really is up to the govt. to decide - MAS may want to order, but the govt. has the final say.

The order can be A330-300HGW and A350 bundled together like what Airbus offered to Hawaiian Airlines to defect. Cross our toes and fingers! Hopefully we can see A350 flying Jalur Gemilang soon!! Malaysia Boleh!! :)

Believe MH operating income is below expectation, don't expect MH to place any big ticket item until nearer to next party election or GE14 unless someone is executing exit plan.

I hope they order the A350-900. I think that would be a perfect replacement for the B777-200s. And I also feel that the A350-900s should replace the A330-300s on the Australian routes, especially flights to SYD and MEL.

SINGAPORE, Pratt & Whitney, a United Technologies Corp. company, announced today that it has signed an exclusive, 10-year Fleet Management Programme (FMP) agreement with Malaysia Airlines to maintain the airlines fleet of 43 PW4170 installed engines and spare engines.

So this IS the announcement, that's all?

How many spare engines do they need?

Hope they have another announcement coming.

Are those rumours about MH taking over D7's A350 delivery slots still alive ?

Please stop the rumors,no such thing is taking place. The delivery of A350XWB is delayed to 2018 by D7 due to the aircraft is still in development stage and there are still a lot of uncertainties with the airplane,D7 dont want to take the gamble, rather be with a proven airplane like the A333HGW model before EIS of the A350XWB.A1 info.

In the first place, that rumour came from a certified MH insider in this forum. It has its weight.

Don't think D7 is going to give up its delivery slots unless there is some consideration from MH - plus Airbus also needs to OK the slots for MH instead of D7. And if this sets a precedent, then many airlines will book new aircraft speculatively and resell the slots at a later date for a profit!

Oh well, I guess we can do better than to take in wholesale all that reasoning :)

Btw, flee had posted in other thread news that "A350 Test Progress Exceeds Expectations" and Doc Naim has link about QR expecting early delivery of their new toy equipment

So, possibly different airline has different priorities ? :)
