Ikman Ikreza 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2012 I think better we have one section to log any AirAsia withdrawn routes start 2013 onwards. Starting 1st Feb they will stop 7x weekly flights within Kota Kinabalu (BKI) - Clark (CRK). AirAsia to stop KK-Clark flights from February PETALING JAYA: AirAsia will stop flying its Kota Kinabalu-Clark route from Feb 1 next year. In a statement, the low-cost carrier said the seven-times weekly flight would be withdrawn due to commercial reasons. “The route suspension is for the group to realign its business plan and strengthen its operations to focus on markets where it can build a leadership position next year,” it said. Affected customers who have made bookings for flights after the date, it said, would be contacted by AirAsia's customer service personnel to inform them about the suspension and to offer alternatives. Those affected can either move their flights to an earlier date to or from Kota Kinabalu or Clark in Philippines with no extra charge subject to availability or will be offered a credit shell for the value paid with a validity of three months. Otherwise, customers can opt for a full refund on their payments. For further enquiries on the route suspension, customers can tweet AirAsia at twitter.com/AskAirAsia. Amirul Mazlan 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2012 Rumours heard from my friend within AirAsia group is that they are withdrawing from Japan, for AirAsia Japan. Load have been below 50% most flights. 7 A330-300s for next year delivery will be used mainly for additional frequency for existing destinations. They are also rethinking about A350s since business model changed. To focus on flights below 8 hours.

Anyway, the withdrawal of BKI-CRK isn't surprising at all. I'm surprised that it didn't happen sooner as loads are terribly. Of all international flights out of BKI, BKI-CRK is the only route that you still can get a very cheap ticket even if you book your ticket very close to your actual travel date. By the way, it seems that SEAir has also closed reservation for travel from January 2013 onward for BKI-CRK. So this will leave Cebu Pacific as the sole carrier flying between BKI and the Filipino capitol. Edited December 7, 2012 by Isaac

Business is just too hard, low load factor, got to withdraw, good load factor, also got to withdraw... Perhaps the pilot episode could be a mission to save Tokyo route would be a shame if Tokyo Hub can't even be linked to the home based destination... hehe http://www.axn-asia.com/programs/theapprenticeasia for those who always throw lots of smart ideas here, you might want to try this hehe

Amirul Mazlan 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2012 Yeap, if D7 wanna let them go for reasonable price. However these are all still internal rumours. Plans for D7 aircraft in BKI, my friend has no comment on that. But year 2014 gonna be big for D7 since they will receive more than 10 aircrafts. Okay back to topic. For Philippines market, my opinion, if they really want to be significant player they have to rethink their stand not to move to MNL instead of CRK.

Mike P 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2013 Do we have the AirAsia Route cancellation topic? AirAsia withdraws daily Penang-HK flights from March 4 KUALA LUMPUR: AirAsia Bhd is withdrawing its daily flights from Penang-Hong Kong with effect from March 4. The low-cost carrier said on Thursday the move was to realign its route planning for its Penang hub, as well as due to commercial reasons. "Guests that are affected by the withdrawal of this route will be offered options to alleviate any inconvenience that might occur and each affected guest will be notified via their registered member email account, as well as an SMS notification of the route termination," it said. AirAsia said affected customers had four options: i) Move their flights to an earlier date to or from Penang or Hong Kong without any extra charges and subject to availability; ii) Re-route their flights from Penang to Kuala Lumpur and from Kuala Lumpur to Hong Kong or vice versa without any extra charges for the seats; iii) Be offered a credit shell for the value that they paid with a validity of three months; or a iv) Full refund. AirAsia flies to five domestic routes: Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi, Johor Bahru, Kota Kinabalu and Kuching. It also flies six international routes: Singapore, Bangkok, Jakarta, Surabaya, Medan and Hong Kong from Penang with nearly 320 weekly flights both ways. http://biz.thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2013/1/3/business/20130103142651&sec=business

JuliusWong 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2013 It seems people prefer to fly with CX rather than AK. Oh no, seems like Penang-ites has lesser choice from now onwards. I thought AirAsia has been heavily promoting the route. The electronics business has been lucrative as well for business travellers.
flee 5 Report post Posted January 3, 2013 Maybe Penangites prefer to fly wide bodies to HKG... Also CX packages can be quite attractive with hotel and airpoirt transfers bundled in. Perhaps AK should toy with the idea of getting A321s and fit some premium seats on these aircraft. They should be welcome on longer sectors (3-4 hour flights). Alif A. F. 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2013 Last time (around early last year), I checked PEN-HKG one-way price on CX website - around RM400. Is that considered cheap (compared with AK)? Some more, you get to fly onboard Boeing 77W...

reezal 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2013 Now it's time for Colombo to be scrapped. Quite surprising. Thought they're doing quite well on this route. AirAsia to scrap daily KL-Colombo flight Frills-free airline, AirAsia, has scrapped its daily flight from Kuala Lumpur to Colombo and vice-versa effective Feb 26 due to commercial reasons. Affected passengers will be offered options to avoid any inconvenience that might arise due to the flight termination, the low-cost carrier said. "Every affected passenger will be notified via their e-mail and short messaging service (SMS). "AirAsia strongly urges passengers to keep their e-mail addresses and mobile numbers with their country code prefix updated in their AirAsia member profiles to ensure the airline can reach them to assist them," the budget airline said in a statement. It said affected passengers have a choice to move their flights to an earlier date to or from Kuala Lumpur or Colombo without any extra charges and subject to availability of seats or they will be offered a credit shell for the value that they paid with a validity of three months or a full refund. Passengers can also contact AirAsia's Customer Care Team via social media by tweeting to twitter.com/AskAirAsia for further enquiries about the route termination. -- Bernama SOURCE: http://www.btimes.com.my/Current_News/BTIMES/articles/20130121172523/Article/index_html
