AirAsia Withdrawn Routes

Recommended Posts

With that, I formally request our dear moderator to start a thread for special fares around the world and pin it as we can always go back and check. Let's contribute to a cheaper and value-for-money air travels!

Now back to topic...AK cut down their frequency on the BKI-TPE but now seemed to go back to daily. Seasonal maybe? You know like Winter Timetable and Summer Timetable. I think Malaysia should make it Visa-free fro Taiwanese to visit Malaysia, is there a channel for us to submit such a request?

Taiwan passport have 15days visa-free currently

The increase is permanent. Last time AK cut the frequency to TPE so to increase the flight frequency to HKG. I suppose the yield to HKG is better. But if I'm not mistaken, they got 1 more aircraft based at BKI and this allows AK to go double daily between BKI/HKG and at the same time increase the flight between BKI/TPE back to daily.

AirAsia To Cease Flights To Da Nang From June 10

KUALA LUMPUR, March 19 (Bernama) -- Low-cost carrier, AirAsia Bhd,

will terminate its four weekly flights from Kuala Lumpur to Da Nang,

Vietnam, effective June 10, as part of its route network realignment.

In a statement, AirAsia said guests affected by the withdrawal of this

route would be offered options to alleviate any inconvenience that might

occur.

It said each affected guest would be notified via their registered

member e-mail account on the AirAsia website, as well as, a short

message service (SMS) notification of the route termination.

All guests are advised to keep their e-mail addresses and mobile

numbers with their country code prefix updated in their AirAsia member

profiles to ensure that the airline can reach them to provide assistance

due to the cancellation of this route.

AirAsia said affected guests would be offered three options which would

include moving their flights to an earlier date to or from Kuala Lumpur

or Da Nang, Vietnam, without any extra charges but subject to

availability.

Thank you for the correction. Amended the list. For Colombo and Maldives, I wouldn't consider them as suspended as per se, as AirAsia Malaysia and AirAsia X are now flying both route respectively.

D7 has never flown to Gatwick, has it? I suppose you mean Stansted.

D7 moved from STN to LGW for approx 2 months before ending London flights.

Airasia is now serving Colombo and Maldives as two separate direct routes - Airasia X used to serve them as a triangular route.

D7 has never flown to Gatwick, has it? I suppose you mean Stansted.

They moved from Stansted to Gatwick on 24th October 2011. Here are some of the media reports at that time:

Air Asia X completes switch from Stansted to Gatwick

AirAsia X moves London service from Stansted to Gatwick

With hindsight, I believe this was the last chance for the route to succeed. However, the yields were not good enough to keep it going.

Time to revive this thread. To put on record, following routes are suspended:

KL- Mukah

Maybe it's because they couldn't find any flight crew skillful enough to operate into and out of Mukah airport with their currently available equipment :D

Ipoh - yes, for a short while I believe.

As for Mukah, there are remnants of a few A320 carcasses located at the extreme end of the very short runway...the only proof of this service before AK ceased operating it due to ever increasing insurance premia.
