Pieter C. 5 Report post Posted May 9, 2006 If not mistaken those are MD3-160 Aerotiga built by (now defunc??) SME Aviation So, uncle, it's a 'local' product ? Never knew Malaysia built trainers
Attan 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2006 (edited) Yes, it's the SME Aviation-built MD3-160 Aerotiga. SME = Syarikat Malayia Explosives. MD = Max Datwyler, the Swiss designer who sold the design to SME Aviation. A fully aerobatic trainer which I had flown to Indonesia and back in 1996. For reasons unknown to me the production line had shut down for good. Edited May 9, 2006 by Attan
Azman MN 1 Report post Posted May 9, 2006 sleep in on Sunday or go flying... tough choice Anyway, you seem to fly all over the place all the time. So how many flying hours would you have by the time you graduate? And how many hours do you do each week?

nss 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2006 the plane is MD3... heard it on the rt last week.... sleep in on Sunday or go flying... tough choice Anyway, you seem to fly all over the place all the time. So how many flying hours would you have by the time you graduate? And how many hours do you do each week? i'm flying all over because i had to clear up my hours.. i had some extra hours after finishing the syllabus,so i just went on a couple of short navs to finish it up faster i'm suppose to have 200 hours by the time i grad, 165 on the PA28 , and 35 on the PA34.. in mfa, nothing is certain.. some weeks u fly ALOT, some weeks u can disappear and nobody will realise . for example...in my first 4 months of flying, i clocked 29hrs, but in march06, i managed to clock 50+ .. Norman 1 Report post Posted May 30, 2006 Yesterday I received an SMS, among others "Flying around 3.30-4.30.. 9m-skk..." But I was late... arrived MFA's Car park at 3:45pm... After a few of Warriors I & II as this example I saw this twin Seneca coming in... minor adjustment left & right It's SierraKiloKilo..... Hai Neesern... Waited for him to come out from the main gate.... but then he came back... Oh ... the first approach was Touch&Go... So this was Full Stop Landing... While waiting for him... this Instructor(??) saw me.. and more Warriors.. The only "Heavies" was MikeKiloUniform passing overhead VictorMikeKilo for IAF Rwy 32L WMKK, I think Then... I met Neesern without his D50 ...
nss 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2006 Pieter, i dont think the cabin heater switch will be used, highest i heard anyone going was 10000ft, i'm not sure if it is used at the altitude.. maybe Moana can confirm that.. Norman, thanks alot! was fun meeting up, the only regret would have been the short period and lack of interesting a/c that evening i wasnt the only one that forgot to bring my camera, Syakir forgot his too
