Newitt 0 Report post Posted May 17, 2015 Swapping for widebody for increased demand during school holiday make sense but why need to cancel 738 flight and overall capacity remain about the same? The cost for two separate flights with two sets of crews with roughly the same capacity as one flight with a larger aircraft can be markedly higher. Then again, there's always the likelihood that revenue for two NB flights > one WB flight.

JuliusWong 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2015 MAS to sell Abacus stake Malaysia Airlines (MAS) will be divesting its indirect 8.84% share in Abacus International Pte Ltd as part of streamlining its businesses and divesting off non-core assets. The sale is expected to be completed by later this year, MAS said in a statement today. MAS and 10 other major airlines in Asia will be selling their combined 65% stake in Abacus, the leading global distribution system (GDS) for travel in Asia Pacific, to Sabre Corporation. Sabre, the existing equity and technology partner, currently owns 35% of Abacus. Collectively, these airlines were founding shareholders of Abacus which has grown to become the leading GDS provider in Asia Pacific since starting in 1998. Craig 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2015 For anyone who was wondering where MH will be sending its 737 from the regional/domestic consolidation, you win if you guessed PVG! MH will now fly 737s on certain MH 386/387 rotations! I thought it was bad enough that MH sends 737 to HKG/TPE/DEL etc., but 5 hour red-eye to PVG tho... Mohd Suhaimi Fariz 2 Report post Posted May 20, 2015 ie. Malindo's config. Nobody seems to comment anything with Malindo. Their seat are good especially people flying them to India. The only way for MH to provide a config similar to Malindo is either to lose seats in Economy or to scrunch up Business by removing the legrests & closing up the pitch. Don't forget Malindo's using 739s which are longer.

Don't forget Malindo's using 739s which are longer. Guess they have to do what they have to do. The seats arrangement in B738 is just too tight, yet they use it for regional flights. It was a mistake they made from the very start.
JuliusWong 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2015 Didn't Malaysia Airlines has the option to convert some of their B738 to B739ER if they opted to do so? It would be a waste they don't use this option. flee 5 Report post Posted May 21, 2015 If they want to introduce a new narrow body product fo regional flights, a better platform would be the A321neo LR configured for regional economy and/or premium economy as well as business class seats. As many of the 9M-MLx series do not feature the Boeing Sky interior, they could be returned after the end of lease and be replaced by the A321neo LR. An A321neo LR with PW geared turbofans would give awesome CASK, if the product is properly configured!
