UAV shot down by Israel

Recommended Posts

An unmanned aircraft was shot down by the Israeli air force Saturday after it crossed the southern region of the country, Reuters reported.

The report said it is unclear where the aircraft originated. Israel Defense Forces (IDF) tells Fox News the unmanned aircraft did not depart from 100612_anhq_strike_640.jpg

the Gaza strip.

The aircraft flew over Israel for less than thirty minutes and did not carry any explosives on board, sources told Fox News. IDF spokesperson Yoav Mordechai said the aircraft was monitored and accompanied by fighter planes throughout its flight and it was possible to shoot it down at any stage.

Israel radio reported that it appeared to be an intelligence gathering drone.

Lt. Col. Avital Leibovich said Israeli systems on the ground alerted the air force to the drone Saturday morning.

Leibovich said the operation was successful and the military was in control throughout.

"We had monitoring contact from the ground and from the air. We alerted jet planes that escorted the unmanned aerial vehicle and due to some operational considerations we decided to intercept the unmanned aerial vehicle in the northern Negev area, which has no population," Leibovich said.

It's not the first time that Israel has shot down drones entering its airspace, but such cases are rare. The Iran-backed Lebanese militia Hezbollah has launched several such aircraft into Israel over the past few years.

In the 2006 war, Hezbollah launched an Iranian-made drone capable of carrying explosives into Israel that was shot down. Another drone two years earlier crashed in the Mediterranean.

Israel and Iran are bitter enemies and tensions are high over Tehran's nuclear program, which the West believes is intended for atomic weapons. Tehran insists its atomic program is for peaceful purposes only.

Israel has hinted that military action should be taken to prevent Iran from getting nuclear bombs.

Leibovich would not elaborate how the unmanned vehicle was brought down. She said troops were searching for debris from the drone.

Defense Minister Ehud Barak congratulated the military.

"We view this incident of attempting to enter Israeli airspace very severely and we will consider our response later," he said in a statement.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Despicable ! When one is poor, they fight for survival. But when one is rich, they fight for more richness.

Most of these middle east countries are rich, but the countries are usually in a chaotic lively-hood.

It boils down to the very evil of wrong-doings - greed.

When the rich and powerful begins to usurp in the spoils of the country's natural riches, they tends to hold on as much of it as possible.

They will use religions, suppression, and aggression to quell its lesser being citizens who they see as lame and unworthy of the country's wealth.

So much so that they categorized their own citizen as commoners, and they themselves the elitist.

What really irks me most is that these elitist betrayed their own religion that they so willingly die for, only to discard it for a new religion of aggression and wealth-being.

Bottom-line , easily gained riches breeds evil and greed.

Syrian artillery bullets shotdown some of villages where located close to border in Turkey side. At the last events, 5 civillian died,a mother and 4 childrens. Another artillery bullet drops down near a school. Syrian side says that "accidentally". The worst generally there is no official informaiton from Syrian side.

Turkey Army artillery opens fire and hit the artillery batteries when they shoot the Turkey side "accidentally" fo a while, as "selfdefense" regulations. Turkey hasn't got any intention to interfere to Syrian homeland business and fights between groups who are Syrian goverment froces and against. Turkey accept to refugees still, they are reached more than 200.000 peoples.

I am sure like many civilized person out there, one would very much like to kick out the current regime over in Syria.

When even the UN can't intervene to put a stop to all these massacres, and when the country was "disowned" by its Islamic neighboring countries, who else would the World expect to have that capability to step up and hand a shield over the poor people of Syria?

It would be natural if one think that the USA and its allies will step up to the plate. It would not be surprising if the word USA were on the many placards held up by these refugees asking for help. It is an open-secret that the UN had hope that the US will intervene in this crisis after it had failed miserably to quell Bashar's evil tryst doings through its conventional diplomacy ways.

But will the US react? I don't think so, not at this moment when its General election is looming overhead. Obama would not want to jeopardize his popularity with another new war on his hands. In addition, the US is not liked in these parts of the world anyway.

Why not countries like Arab Saudi, Pakistan, or Iran or any other resource-rich Islamic countries helped to resolve the conflict?

Why don't they band together and voice their concerns and punish their way-ward gone brothers? Why are they so death-ening quiet about this issue? None of their business? Family matters and not their concerns? If I am a fellow Arab, I would be ashamed to be one. All the oils in the world. All the riches one can ask for. But none of them bet an eye-lid for the suffering of their fellow Arabs and Muslims.

The UN has already now being relegated from being a World body into being a News reporter as it continues to give estimates, and voices the amount of human lives lost in the civil-war of Syria. True to what has been said all these while, without the US and its allies, the UN is nothing more then a Nato organisation - No Actions, Talk Only.

How would you expect or predict the civil-war in Syria to end??

If only everyone thinks similarly then we are living in an ideal world ......... :help:

Actually Malaysia is the same because they practice the "no interference in the internal affairs of another country" policy. That was why no one did anything about Cambodia, Burma, etc. when they had internal strife and innocent citizens were murdered.
