JAL to fly Dreamliner to Singapore

Recommended Posts

Japan Airlines (JAL) has announced that it will deploy its Dreamliner aircraft on its Singapore flights from September this year.

The Boeing B787 aircraft will be used to operate the carrier’s daily service to the Lion City from both Narita and Haneda airports in Tokyo.

From October 28, JAL will also up the frequency of Singapore flights with one additional daily service on the Narita-Singapore route, which will also be serviced by the Dreamliner. The flight will depart Narita at 1755, arriving in Singapore at 0025. The return leg is scheduled to take off at 0140, arriving back in Tokyo at 0925.

As a result, the carrier will then be flying to Singapore 21 times a week, up from the current 14 times.

As previously reported, the carrier will also use the Dreamliner to operate flights to New Delhi, Moscow, Beijing and the new Boston route.

Three cheers to Japan Airlines ... all of us in Singapore are extremely excited by this news. And Singapore will be the first destination for JAL to get B787 services from both Haneda and Narita Airports. Now I wish that JAL will follow ANA in putting some special touches in its B787 livery.

Changi Airport welcomed its first Boeing 787 Dreamliner commercial flight – operated by Japan Airlines (JAL) – with a water-cannon salute on Sunday evening.

JAL said it will use the plane on all Tokyo-Singapore flights from early next year.-straitstimes

No matter how model and technological an airplane is, we still can't run away from the many toggles and switches. Perhaps something are best left to its original form.

The Dreamliner still retains the conventional yoke stick as opposed to the joystick method. Maybe the old method have better feel or control over the plane than a joy stick.

Sorry Cikgu, there is no more SIN - KUL flight on JL. JL still flies directly to KUL but I think still using B767.

Cikgu, JL flew twice a day to KUL-

1 daily NRT-KUL

1 daily KIX-SIN-KUL (now axed)

I hope with MH joining oneworld they may consider increasing flights to KUL or upgrading capacity

Technically if you include codeshare flights, JL flies to KUL 18x a week from NRT (the daily MH88 & MH92) and 6x a week from KIX.

Can try BI's B787 when they deliver next year. Hopefully they'll test drive their planes on BWN - BKI sector.

Gee, how can Singapore received their first 787 so late. Thought they always jump to the front of the queue for everything? :p

That is because SQ has ordered the yet to fly B787-9, which are supposed to replace the B772s.

B787-8 too small to SQ

Back when the decision to order the B787s was made - the 787-8 was too small.

Today, perhaps the 787-8 may be a perfect fit!

The glory of hindsight.
