was he meant about real pirates? there are some real pirates at south china sea is it? in 2000 they kidnapped a group of tourists in Sabah

That happened in the east coast, very far away from KK. And they are not pirates but terrorists.

We have KD Tunku Abdul Rahman for that task.

We have KD Tunku Abdul Rahman for that task.

What task ? To see off those stealthy, highly mobile opportunists off Semporna and neighbouring waters ?

Likely by the time KD TAR manages to manoeuvre a turn, those 'offenders' will already be beyond visual range :)

Much like swinging a sledgehammer to whack a fly :D

Really sad part though, so much RM already poured into the two submersible cigars, probably not much money left to deploy real effective counter measures, ie the originating 'task'

But for certain, a certain individual currently residing in Oxford, UK will have differing view on matter :)

Ya, if they only think bigger we might be getting an aircraft carrier of our own. Then hire 5000 new citizens to man the ship. Then only need to create another 27000 jobs only. A few more Lynas here and there and presto!

Enough with ship spotting. "He" (after all the ship was named after a male) is expected to leave tomorrow.

"Hi Ace"

Crossing the runway towards my direction before turning right towards T1. The plane is so close that I only use kit lens.

Adios!

They better watch out so not to get the wrong "chicken" > he-chicken

Pretty sure some uncle turtles will expedite some fresh chicken from the Philippines to cater for the appetite of those lonely sailors.

Thought these aircraft carries is part of the move by the US to support the Phillippines for the spratly islands claim or on the way to help Japan for the territorial spat with China?

Nolah, where got such thing wan ? Your imagination working overtime (unnecessarily) drawing up all these unfounded conclusions accusations :)

The local press has it the US embassy has worked tiredlessly to bring the show of might vessel here

And our local leaders are awestruck (hard to blame them really, when they are to witness the arsenal of just but a tiny fraction of the US military might) Incidentally, it was quoted in local press here that the USN vessel in question is able to generate more electricity than the combined capacity of everything in Sabah - go figure :)

Definitely not my fragments of imagination. If you read some military strategy and movement. The USN is definitely heading westward to East Asia :)

I hope someone is not going shopping for an aircraft carrier just to demonstrate the capability and the deep pockets of the boleh-land...

Oh I do hope they do shop for an aircraft carrier that does not come with arrester hooks and cattapults.... :diablo:

Not sure how the aircraft carrier will help in scaring off the Iranian mobile oil reserves in Labuan though. They only need to send one or two gunships and they will scare sh!tless... This is what I dislike about the western bully tactic....

I've always thought that we are dangerously closed to countries deemed "suspicious" like Iran.

It is more to do with what Uncle Sam would do to other smaller countries like Malaysia if caught dealing or trading with sanctioned countries. Uncle Sam might punish those countries if caught and I guess Malaysia can't afford to have those repercussions given that the US is one of the top trading partners.

Am currently back to BKI for a while.

Decided to spot Haj flight this morning.

While waiting for the jumbo, good to see MAS eyebrow unit is still operating

9M-MPQ doing runway 02 approch as MH8616 from Kuala Lumpur. She was empty so she did a quick turn back to Terminal 1

DSCF2208.jpg

2 hours later the jumbo uses runway 20 for departure due to heavy load and sudden wind change.

The jumbo managed to attract some motorist

I know I have been asking this. Have they finished the taxiway and the runway extension yet?

How many years has this project taken?

I believe runway is all done and extended part (southern) already in use

Taxiway at southern end also completed

Taxiway at northern end can still see excavators and mounds of dirt about - no go yet I guess

I think the furthest the parallel taxiway goes to is where planes take a 90 degree turn, cross the runway and into T2's apron

How many years has this project taken?

Too many, lost count :)

The parallel taxiway will take you to abeam T2. But with the longer runway narrowbodies to T1 can turn right and taxi to T1, rather than the old days of backtracking and sometimes turning to T2 to wait for the runway to clear. On the same note aircraft on T2 can now cross the runway and taxi on the parallel all the way to the beginning of runway 02 for takeoff.

A small part of the parallel, in front of T1, is also not ready but you can just taxi in front of the terminal to avoid this, so it is not a big issue.

Just as BC said, it has taken too long.

Thanks for the info. captain and BC.

Are you guys indicating that the taxiway won't be extended any further northwards towards the city bound end?

The runway should be long enough, the problem may be the width. I saw the Air China B744 and the Hajj flight move really really slowly when passing T1 towards their gate at the far end (usually gate 1 or 2 if not mistaken).

Indications are that works is 'ongoing' - problem is no one seem bothered when the 'finishing' occurs :)

Dunno, perhaps an avenue to milk the project accomodate the variation orders as much and as long as is possible ? :)

Always nice to have a project with lots of variations orders and an indefinite timeline. :) One would be lucky enough to come across such project during his/her lifetime.

Guess transparency and accountability isn't an issue in boleh land?

Checked google map today and seems they will eventually lengthen the taxiway to the racecourse end. Thank goodness.

The VO is several times the tender price, it's not supposed to be legal anymore... well...

They make it look like it's a very important thing but in reality, everything is fine as long as everyone involved get their cut :D
