AirAsia X has changed one of its A330-202 order to A330-343X. And for sure another will follow suits. Guess we will not see AirAsia X colours in A330-202.

Capt Radzi, how many B738 MX series MAS received up to date?

MXH is the latest, if I'm not mistaken. So now there are 8 X-series, 11 L-series (D-N) and 6 FF-series B738 with MH.

No idea whether this would appear on a new plane or an old one?

AirAsia Japan takes delivery of its first Airbus A320 aircraft

Japan’s newest low-cost carrier to start operation with all-Airbus fleet in August

8 June 2012

Japan’s newest low-cost carrier AirAsia Japan has taken delivery of its first Airbus A320 aircraft in Toulouse, France. The Narita-based carrier will start commercial services on August 1st from Narita International Airport to Sapporo and Fukuoka, and from August 3rd to Okinawa with an initial fleet of two aircraft.

AirAsia Japan will start international operations to Seoul (Incheon) and Pusan in Korea in October, with a fleet growing to four aircraft by the end of 2012.

AirAsia Japan’s A320s are configured in a high comfort, all economy layout with 180 seats. Each aircraft is powered by CFM56 engines.

“We are extremely happy to take delivery of our brand new Airbus A320. Our aim is to provide opportunities for everyone to fly with low fares. With the A320’s cabin comfort and operational reliability, we want to offer better access, in particular for the Japanese travelling public, and make them feel easy to fly,” said AirAsia Japan President Kazuyuki Iwakata.

“We are delighted to welcome AirAsia Japan as our newest Airbus operator. With its wide cabin, the A320 offers the quickest turn-around time of any single aisle aircraft in its category, making it a fantastic asset for low-cost carriers” said Airbus Chief Operating Officer, Customers John Leahy. “With our popular A320 Family, the Japanese low-cost market has the potential to grow as much as the low-cost carriers’ have grown in Europe or North America.”

AirAsia Japan, established in August 2011, is a joint venture between Japan’s largest airline ANA Group (67%) and one of the world’s leading low cost airline AirAsia (33%). Operating under the AirAsia brand, it will serve both domestic and international destinations.

As of today, more than 8,400 Airbus A320 Family aircraft have been sold to over 360 customers and operators worldwide, making it the world’s best selling commercial jetliner ever. With proven reliability and extended servicing periods, the A320 Family has the lowest operating costs of any single-aisle aircraft.

MLM is confirmed to be -8H6.

So is -MLN. 737-8H6 with the same interior as the -MX series, PTVs and all.

-MLN is owned by an Irish company (perhaps just an SPV), and leased to BBAM Aircraft and subleased to MH.

It looks like D7 will not be taking this white tailed A332 (MSN 1321). Anyone has any info on this?

AirAsia X has changed one of its A330-202 order to A330-343X. And for sure another will follow suits. Guess we will not see AirAsia X colours in A330-202.

As per my post on 5th June above.....with the suspension of European flight, AirAsia X is no longer interested in these two A330-200 anymore. I think CI, BR or Finnair maybe interested to add on to their fleet.

Yes they have ordered 3 and changed one to the A333.

The 2 A332s now need to be disposed of. So far, its just a white tail...

Yes, D7 were going to use the A332s for their European routes - replacing the A343s.

The GEs are supposed to offer better cruise economy - so more suitable on long range routes. The RRs have good take off and climb performance-economy.

Ok, thanks for that clarification

Could it possibly be then a RR engined 332 is not able to perform the missions AK-X had (has ?) in mind, without payload restrictions ?

Must be significant, for them to forgo savings that can be reaped from commonality with existing fleet

-MLO due today at 1555 as MAS5403

Now how overshadowed would that occasion be, by arrival of -MNA :D

Not that I'm wishing anything untoward to happen, but -MLO can easily make a grand entrance of a landing to overshadow anything else happening today.

I am not really sure what will happen to their A330-202 on order. I think they had cancelled their 3rd.

cn 1321 has been registered as 9M-XXI. Another A332 (cn 1339) is now in sequence for completion (maybe 9M-XXJ) . Surprisingly their 9M-XXJ comes after MH's 9M- MTH and 9M-MTI (cn 1336 & cn 1337). TG's A330-34X HS-TBD is cn 1338. Bothers and sisters right next to each other. Much like when MH got 999th B744, SQ 1000th, TG 1001th.
