Maybe he was thinking about EagleXpress only doing hajj charter business.

While the truth is Eagle is doing both umrah and hajj charter services for Saudia and flynas.

Afraid this is why new-startups chasing the charter market have to be extremely careful... Contracts come and go.. Concentration on one market (hajj/umrah) is another limitation... Package tour deals also becoming less prevalent given the many cheaper DIY Internet solutions available..

Spotted this at planespotters.net, the sole A330-243 under 9M registration has been returned to lessor Guggenheim Aviation Partners by Eaglexpress Air on 7th June 2016.

 

It was delivered to Eaglexpress Air as 9M-AZL on 30th Nov 2015, and was immediately leased to flynas of Saudi Arabia. Now re-registered as G-GGEN. Prior to her short stint with Eaglexpress Air, she was with Monarch Airlines under registration G-SMAN.

Eagle have just added an ex Max Air 747 to their fleet. 9M-AZB ex 5N-RDK. With MPM/K due soon, how many 747's does eagle currently actively operate? Anyone have an idea?

Most of Eaglexpress fleet are in storage. B747-428 9M-ACM, B747-4H6 [9M-MPD and 9M-MPK] have not done any flight recently. Only 9M-MPM is now active with SV for Hajj.

Mavcom revokes permit of umrah charter operator Eaglexpress Air

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Aviation Commission (Mavcom) on Tuesday revoked the air service permit (ASP) of global umrah/hajj charter operator Eaglexpress Air Charter Sdn Bhd effective Dec 21 for failing to comply with certain conditions within the stipulated timeframes.

 

The four-year-old Eaglexpress, the country’s second charter airline after Berjaya Air Sdn Bhd, operates flights to Saudi Arabia from North Africa, the Middle East, Indonesia, Bangladesh, and Malaysia.

 

Mavcom said in a statement that with the revocation of the ASP, the Kuala Lumpur-based airline would not be able to carry by air or use any aircraft for the carriage of passengers, mail or cargo for hire or reward on a non-scheduled journey over domestic or international routes.

I suspect they are suffering from severe cash flow issues - this is affecting their operations. Good that their permit is revoked so that passengers don't suffer. Time to shut this under capitalised venture.

Licence doesn’t assure smooth flight for airlines in Malaysia

 

Having a licence does not assure that a new airline can take to the skies in Malaysia. And even if the airlines have been in operation for a few years, there is no guarantee that they can keep their licence forever.

 

Last week, the four-year old Eaglexpress had its air service permit (ASP) — which allows a company to operate charter flights — revoked by the Malaysian Aviation Commission (Mavcom) after it failed to comply with certain conditions imposed by the aviation regulator within the stipulated deadlines.

 

A check with the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) reveals that Eaglexpress is 25 per cent owned by its director Chan Kah Woh, 20 per cent by its CEO Captain Azlan Zainal Abidin and 15 per cent by Kasmani Abdul Kadir. Chairman Tan Sri Mohd Radzi Sheikh Ahmad, director Datuk Wan Ismail Abd Rahman, director Shafie Ismail and former home ministry secretary-general Tan Sri Dr Aseh Che Mat each hold a 10 per cent stake in the airline.

The airline turned profitable in the second year of operation, posting a net profit of RM267,421 (US$59,632) in the financial year ended June 30, 2013 (FY2013), compared with a net loss of RM4.93 million (US$1.10 million)in FY2012.

For FY2014, its net profit surged more than 21 times to RM5.75 million (US$1.28 million) from the previous year, while revenue more than doubled to RM129.67 million (US$28.9 million) from RM57.47 million (US$12.8 million) in FY2013. It has yet to file its financial results for FY2015 and FY2016 with the SSM.

If the airline is proved to be profitable, how come it can tanked so fast? It recorded a handsome profit RM5.75 million in 2014. I wonder what happened in 2015 and 2016 when oil prices are all time low. Was their business hit by AirAsia X entry into charter market? Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Algeria, and Malaysia boast a large amount of charter plane especially during Haj period.

Chaity, thank you for the picture. I read previously on skyliner-aviation.de it was sent to VCV for storage. Now that you have captured her sitting in KUL, guess they have gotten the wrong registration. I wonder how is Eagleexpress's fleet doing.
